Aftermarket ECU: Air Pump

Anyone with a Haltech or Adaptronic ECU using the stock airpump if so how do you have it wired up?

I have to pass the sniffer and visual test for emissions testing.

I thought about hooking up an electric air pump but a local friend didnt have any luck using it to pass emissions on his car.

I have an adaptronic ECU and thinking about installing the stock air pump to pass emissions. I would just hard wire the air pump to 12v source and turn on it via switch and would turn it on around emission testing time and then turn it off after testing.

I would run the rx7store cat with air pump connector.

I also thought about running a bonez HFC or something similar without airpump to see if that would pass. Anyone passing emissions with just an aftermarket cat?

any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated

My air pump wasn't hooked up to the cat when I did the smog test in Oregon and I passed... I still had the stock ECU at that time, though. I just followed the tips many people on here have outlined where I got it up to temperature and drove it pretty hard right before pulling into the shop, etc. I may have gotten lucky as there was very little wait time until I got in to be tested, but I ended up passing with flying colors! It wasn't until later that I found out that the pump wasn't even connected... I have a bonez cat, or something that looks very similar to it (prevoius owner put it on).

Use one of your aux outputs to activate a relay for the airpump. DO NOT use the ecu to ground the pump directly. You can then use the rpm function to turn off the airpump at a specified rpm. I have an airpump on my 20b and it turns off at 3,500 rpms with my old Haltech E11v2.
