AF Ratio Meter Reads (Red) Lean !!!

I just got my Autometer AF ratio meter and tried to jam the wire into the plug that comes off the Oxygen sensor and goes past the intake and ... god knows where ECU probhably...
Anyhow.... without the wire properly inserted it read green.... Or Very Rich... which is obviously wrong... but
with it getting signal it immediately goes to full red... or very Lean... what gives !? Do we (FD) need to put a resistor inline or what is going on !? If I was running that lean at idle my engine would have died long ago...

Also If I pulled the connector appart I expected the check engine light to come one due to no Oxygen sensor... yet it does not and the engine continues to idle fine.... ????

Domething's wrong... and yes I followed the wire back to the O2 that sits on the turbo manifold and looks like a sparkplug....

first of all, autometer a/f ratio as well as all after market ones are a waste of time and are total crap (dont worry about it though, i have one haha). they only kinda work at WOT and even then are useless unless you like the light show and then its worth it. get on a wide band O2 sensor/lambda meter asap!

You should still be able to plug in a Wideband's ouput into the AF Meter ... I hate those black boxes that show you the value 12:1 or so... what do I care... (I do) but not when I'm driving I need something I can glance at, and Looks cool ! For the Ladies !

The TechEdge wideband display has both the number and a bar graph. But I never look at the bar graph -- it is all red and hard to read quickly. I do look at the number, though:

On a related note, someone needs to mount a huge multi-color A/F ratio display to the front of their car like Kitt.

Thanks, T88NosRx7. I just finished the install over the weekend, and I am loving the WBO2. I can finally tune my car!

http://www.techedge.com.au/ is the TechEdge web site.
