Adding injectors

Hey I was wonderinf if it would be o.k to add injectors instead of an upgraded ECU. Current mods: downpipe, catback, intake, SMIC, AST, BOV. I'm already pushing the 3 mod rule but I'm tryign not to boost the car. Anyways back to the question, if I was to buy a boost controller and add another injector to add more fuel. Would it be safe not to upgrade my ecu? I know i won't be able to really tune it, but i just want to add a midpipe and I want to prevent boost spike, creep, and detonation until I can afford a ECU +tunning.

Even if you add one or more injectors, you still need an ECU to control them (like the HKS AIC "Additional Injector Controller").

You can't just simply plug in extra injectors somewhere and expect them to work without anything telling them what to do.

Piggy backs are not good for FD's. Just save up if your gonna need an ecu and get a PFC.

Also, the three mod rule was thrown out years ago. Just make sure your boost stays at stock levels and you will be fine. But make sure it stays dead on at 10PSI. No spikes, no creep, no nothin. The stock ecu is mapped pretty rich, people have done WBO2 testing to prove this.

PS. Stay away from the midpipe for now. Otherwise you will have a really hard time doing what I suggested up top. Just save up and get a PFC before that, then you can add whatever you want. (Making sure you add parts properly of course)

a piggy back like the SAFC is better then nothing....

btw we still go by the "3 mod rule". It was definately not thrown out.

I'd put the stock intake or catback back on and leave it the way it is untill you can afford a proper ecu such as a power fc. If you can't afford an ecu now, you certainly won't be able to afford a motor. Like said above, you can't just add larger injectors. An SAFC is a waste of money that could be put towards an ecu.

Actually we dont. Check the wide band data. Theres no lie in that.

And why waste money on a SAFC? Thats like half the cost of a PFC...Just save up for the other half and do it right.

Problem is I have an automatic, and don't want to get into a whole discussion abotu wha does and does nto work. But I wanted to wait until I can figure out whether or not I want to get rid of HOLD feature. I actually just had a rebuilt engine, from Mark at TRipoint engineering. Very great job btw. He's the one that suggested after I break it in that he wanted to add another injector so that the engine doesn't lean out.

I also have an auto and have added mods see my sig... Mark at TRipoint suggested this extra injector thing to me as well. Mark said the extra injector plus controller will cost over a $1,000.00 plus tuning and not give any power improvements only a higher level of safety. since I can't get this ECU thing settled with the hold feature I just keep my boost set at 10psi and my car is running fine. save your money and add 4.33 gears to the rear end it will wake up the auto trans and make the car respond better. has Mark checked your air fuel readings with a wide band yet to see if your lean? I bet your still very rich with your setup.
