Accelerated Warmup System not working

My Accelerated Warmup System was working when I first got the car. When I started it, it would rev up to 3000 rpm and stay there for about 40 sec.

Now at startup, it kind of struggles to start, and then revs up to 2100-2200 rpm for about 15 seconds.

My question is... should I be worried about this. Is it a sign that something may be wrong with the car? I don't really care if the Accelerated Warmup System works, but I just want to make sure that the malfunction is not a result of a more serious problem. By the way, I live in arizona, so it may not be cold enough to active the Accelerated Warmup System.

And this is a bad thing because???
ACW or the Accelerated Wear Out System, is just something to warm your cats up for emision purposes.
Its bad for your engine!!!
The first few seconds of engine startup is puts the most stress on the internals you don't want your car to be at 2500+ rpm!!!
Do you have a PFC??? The PFC gets rid of the AWS, how many miles do you have on your car???
I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Yes it always helped if I had it in 1st or 2nd gear, also give the throttle a light tap to bring the rpms down. I've seen guys just start there cars and they let it rev to 3k+ rpms for like 5 minutes on startup, that can't be too good for your engine or turbos.

My car has 58,000 miles. I am not concerned about getting the AWS to work. I am just concerned because it used to work, and I want to make sure that the malfunction of it is not a side affect of something more serious.

Thanks for your replys

Its not worth replacing. Its only there to warm up the pre cats for cold emissions.

By the way. I have a greddy catback exhaust and Amemiya intake. What kind of times should I be doing in the 1/4 mile?

I'm also need to get a downpipe. What's the best on the market?

*cough* ricer *cough*

All Down Pipes (DP) are pretty much the same. It's the material and diameter that are the performance factor. I got the HKS Mild Steel (MS) 3" DP for $200. It's the best bang for your buck, IMO. Stainless Steel (SS, S/S) downpipes will not rust and will last coniderably longer and they're shiny... for a price.
