Question Accel spark plug wires fit problem

So I am having a new engine installed under warranty at my local Mazda dealership. They tell me that I need new spark plug wires and that their price for the stock NGK's is $147.00 CDN. I say to myself "ya right" and find a set of Accel wires for considerably less. Besides I have read that the stock NGK's are not that good and have heard the Accel do a good job.

Today my dealership phones me and says the Accel wires won't fit they are too short. So I phone the place I purchase them from to find out if they sold me the wrong ones. After verifying with them and a web page that the part number 7932B (B for blue) is the correct one for my car. I phone my dealership back, they swear that they are too short. So instead I bought a set of stock NGK's from someone else for $65.00 and will have the dealership install them tomorrow.

Anyone else using the Accel 300plus Thundersport have a problem installing them? The shortest lenght of wire I have is around 9 inches long.

I think my dealership is just trying to rip me off.

Garfinkle makes his customers wires from MSD wire . If I remember correctly, the shortest one is about 9 inches and the longest is about 12 inches .Never go to a dealership for work on a 3rd gen .

Does Garfinkle use the MSD connectors? I had the MSD set on my car for a while and it had a miss under heavy load (WOT, or trying to accelerate in 5th gear on the interstate). I put some magnecore wires and the problem went away. I was sure I "burped" the MSD wires and installed them correctly.

They will poop out on you in a year.

I have been running Accel wires for about a year and a half now, they are doing a good job. If I remember right one wire is just a bit short but not tight in there, though it would be nice if they gave you an extra inch.

When the spark plug fluid light comes on it usually means there is an air bubble in the system...

I think he means that a pocket of air can get trapped in the boot when you push it over the plug. When this pocket is compressed, pressure builds up and may be enough to push the boot off the plug.

I've been running a set of Accel wires for about 3+ years with maybe 40K on them. Never had a problem.

The only reason I took the car to a Mazda dealership is that there was warranty left on the car and I knew the engine was going. The only way I could get the warranty to cover anything was if the work was done at a Mazda dealership. It did take them and the warranty company over 13 weeks to come to the conclusion that the problems with the car was the engine and to replace it. Since then I am now in week 17, the car should be ready for tomorrow.

About the plug wires, I picked up a set of NGK stock replacement, not from the dealership, there is no way I was going to pay them $147.00 for the same thing I can buy some where else for half that. I compared them to the Accel's and there is no diffence in length. The only different is that the NGK's have a 90 degree angle at the boot and the Accel's have a 45 degree angle. I don't really see how that could of caused them not to fit.

I will just have Mazda install the NGK's so that they can't come back to me and tell me I need to buy their's since they are the same thing. At least I will finally get my car back. I found a good price on MSD's but I will have to order them and it will take a week or so, so maybe I will do that once I get the car back.

Thanks for the info

Don't buy the MSD wires. Do a search and you will see why. I had bad luck with mine and ended up with magnecore.
