?? About Underdrive Pulleys

I was replacing my power steering pump last night, and when I took off the pulley it was cracked. I think that is why my pump isn't working. Any way the local parts stores can't order the pulley, and Mazda wants $105 for the pulley, which is way over pariced IMO. Does the underdrive pulley sets come with a new pulley for the power steering pump? Can anyone give me a link to where I can purchase some?
Thanks,
Brad

There are 4 pulleys on the RX-7
1. The main underdrive(eccentric shaft)
2. Alternator
3. Air Pump
4. AC condensor

I think the Greddy replaces the Alternator and AC. I would make sure you know which one has cracked and then contact Rotary Performance or M2 or KD Rotary and see if they have an OEM that they can sell cheaper. Most of the upgraded pulley kits which replace 3 or more pulleys require removal of the airpump. Doublecheck and contact those guys.

Brad,

The greddy pulley kit is for the alternator and water pump, and assumes you are losing the air pump. It's the blue pulley's in the pictures of my car or others you might've seen. I haven't heard of a replacement pulley for the ps, but there is a stock one here http://www.thepartstrader.com/single...0&adnum=195143

That ps pump you got off the forum didn't have a pulley eh, bummer

I think that the only pulleys available are the ones that the above people have mentioned. I don't know of a kit that makes the pulley you need......I would just have it made.

Unortodox racing makes pulleys for the 7. There power steering pulley is not and under drive pulley but is an aluminum replacement and in the $125 range IIRC. I broke my original one during a motor swap and paid $45+shipping for it when I really needed it to get the car going. Should you decide that price will work for you let me know, if your not sure if your pump is good or not (the pulley would have to be slipping on the hub for your pump not to work) and this would have to be a total failure of the pulley for that to happen, I would suspect your pump is bad as well. If you want a low milage pump and pulley I will let it go for $75 shipped plus paypal fee. Just PM me if your interested. Jack

I have the stock pulley on my water pump, you'll have to ask one of the guys running the under drive pulley to give you a measurement.

I've just about finished an aluminum replacement pulley for the idler on the Pwr steering/ AC belt. I want to make an aluminum pulley for the water pump but I want it stock diameter not under driven size.

I have the complete Unothodox pulley set on my car.

While they are made from aluminum (Crank, Water pump, Power steering & Alternator), only the crank pulley is undersize.

Plus the set is BIG $$$$$. Over $450 6 years ago. Probably sell for a lot less now. Damn, I should have held out.

As far as massive power gains?

Mine are anodized red & sure look cool.........

Yep, sure look cool.

I would post a ad in the parts section & find a used OEM pulley.

I'm thinking of getting a set too. Did you notice any change in engine sound or response? I use to have the Greddy kit but I have to put the air pump back to pass emissions but the grand tourismo sound went away also. I'm hoping that with an underdrive pulley set will bring the sound and response back even with the air pump on. Its $339 now in ebay plus free shipping.
