??? about non seq being loud
I didnt realize going non seq would be louder. I'm fixing to change over and need to know how much louder are we talking here? What kind of sound is it and why is it louder? I know to do it right you remove the swing door in the exhaust manifold but why would that make it louder?
Just to clarify I'll be doing the full conversion pulling the swing door and everything

It is louder because of the extra exhaust flow. What type catback do you have? I have a Racing Beat and it’s loud but not extreme. On the other hand dont_be_a_rikki's car has the PFS catback as well as a street port, that car is loud!!! If you are that concerned maybe go with a resonated MP.

My Fd was non-seq and it was not any louder. What made it louder was when i installed a cat back system. I think the seq. syst. is so restrictive that opening or closing the doors does not influence sound at all only if you replaced with tuned headers then we`re talkink. Thats to my experience with 4 rotaries. thanks.

Well I've got a resonated midpipe and a Pettit catback. Its already pretty loud. What I'm wanting to know is with eveything else the same how much louder does full non seq make it? We talking barely noticeable or a big difference?
Thanks,
STEPHEN

It is pretty slight if you have the resonated pipe. You will be able to tell a difference but it wont hurt you ears. It is more a tone change. If you want do the poormans really quick before doing the complete.

I would but I'm doing it along with a motor replacement so I cant.
Well, I've never heard of anyone really complaining about it so maybe it'll be ok

Carson, I thought you liked being non seq. Hmmm, maybe I should rethink this.

It is a LOT louder on my car... I couldn't take it! Just tooling around town at < 3000 RPM or so it was so loud and droning that it was unbearable. I have a downpipe, Greddy SP catback, and Borla XR-1 added to a midpipe. I think this is one of the quieter exhaust setups.
I wouldn't even consider non sequential. It is a mod that has many more drawbacks than it has advantages. You could install the electronic sequential and nonsequential switch so you could switch between the two if you really want the added smoothness of nonseq for road race.

Yellow Dragon is no more
If you go non-sequential go all the way. It makes the car easier to launch and more predictable. It is also a good primer for single turbo land and the car will run without problems. However if you have a working sequential system and you are daily driving it .... I'd leave it sequential. The response of sequential is great. As a matter of fact I'll eventually get a ball bearing single to get some additional response to my single turbo setup.

I noticed a fairly large difference. The deeper exhaust note you hear when the 2nd turbo kicks in on a sequential system is what is heard all the time on nonseq.
This is what my nonseq sounds like from midtrack with a down/midpipe and racing beat exhaust

can someone analyze this last run for me, I think it should have been 12's but I didn't realize I was shifting so slow until watching my own run. Short time (60') was 2.17
