Just plug the hose....a golf tee works great!

As for the solenoid, it's fine the way it is.

if your manifold is out of the car, just remove the solenoid, put a 330 ohms resistance on the connector, remove the vaccum lines and plug them from where they come.

If the manifold is back on and you don't want to remove it, just plug the hose with a screw.

Puma is right on. Only other thing about removing the soleniod is that the double throttle is the front one on the rack. You may be able to get it off with just removing the pressure chamber and not the manifold? There may be room. But then again there may not be clearance to unclip it from the rack. Worth a look.

When I did my hose job recently I found after removing the manifold that the vac supply to the double throttle solenoid was already broken off at the nipple. My double throttle has been disabled ever since I bought the car since without vac it can't hold the butterfly closed. I always go easy until temp is up, but I wonder how these things drive with the double throttle closed?

The double throttle is an extra pair of butterflies behind the throttle body that lead to the secondaries. They stay closed until the car is warmed up and then open (assuming your system is working. A failure anywhere just leaves them open all the time). Even when open you have some restriction there with the shaft and the butterflies in the airstream. By removing the shaft and all it cleans up airlfow slightly.

exactly but the most important thing i believe is that you remove something that does nothing important. This is my resolution for next year, getting rid of everything to keep the engine as clean as possible, it will be such easier to work on after that.

Double throttle
AWS
AST
PCV vavle
throttle body coolant
air pump
ACV
etc.
