99 spec tail light conversion
as stated in the subject.. has anyone tried converting their 93-98 tail lights to the 3 circle 99 spec ones? I see this guy doing it on ebay... but has anyone done it by themselves? any websites that talk about the conversion procedures?

How the hell do you get the taillight cover off? I have been heating just about anything I could and no luck. Do I heat the OUTER part, or the part in the center where the fine line goes around? Kinda suck since I (one both taillights) overheated and little bit and left some scars on it.......

ok..
if you search google.com you can find many tutorials on how to remove, and do the light conversion... you have to use a heat gun or an oven to ungle the covers from the assembly...

I'm still waiting for someone to make some with efini symbols instead of circles. Or, the circles with the efini design blacked out in the center.
Silly I know, but I just felt like posting the thought

Dude, just do it!!
Instead of making the cut-out a circle, use an infini symbol. Download a pic, print it out and then use an exacto knife. Grab your paint and boom!!
I would probably use some differnt colors to make it stand out a little but good idea. Just think that 6 of them would be a little bit of overkill.
Personally after my next few mods, will probably take out the center and mask paint NOS so it shows up in the center brake light!!

after you heat up the back of the light, stick a small screw driver shaft into the assembly and run that screw driver shaft around the edges to force/pry the assembly apart. Remeber to heat up the assembly a few times on the BACK of the assembly, not the smoke lens or you'll melt the smoke lens. I have done over a few dozen light conversions so if you have any questions, pls don't hesistate to PM me or ask on this post.

I did mine last week, Ive been working on them for a few days, I used silver spray paint instead of black like everyone else so you can see the circles during the day... it looks way nice !

Damn!!!
Those lightes painted colors other then black look horrible!!
Sorry guys that did this, just my taste, sure that it looks good on your car (gag...caugh..). I have mine on the slate early next year to do. Will be black since my color scheme only includes 4 colors. Silver, Blue (engine compartment) Black and Red. For some reason my interior is Black and Red, no wing on the back but I do have a wiper on the back, sunroof and a Twin Turbo with a stick. Someone told me that was a rare combination but staying on track, black with the covers or even the carbon fiber (hey maby a carbon fiber with a little extra hard silver woven into it??).
Anyhow did'nt like the look of the silver with the orange exterior in the suggested thread above.

You try to pry the smoked lens, off the plastic part that has the bubbles on the back. Heat around the edges where the screws were, and put some muscle on when you pull, but be careful not to pull too hard when you get towards the ends.
I just put mine back on car today. ...can't wait until dark.
