95 Bathurst-X OEM wheel reinstall
Essentially removing everything but the cruise components from the harness to have an idea of where you need to pin the plugs in by looking at a non cruise harness side by side?
I was referring generally to harvesting random connectors/plugs.. I have been picking away at an emissions harness to isolate out the wiring of the thermo fan switch circuit.
I have not selected a instrument or dash harness to try the same.
One could , however, parse out the information from the wiring diagrams.
They show the circuits, wire colours, the pin locations within the plugs, and which harnesses and joint connectors the circuits run through.
One could make up spreadsheet to list it all out in one place.
Using the manual, I identified which plugs/connectors are used and I believe I pictured most of those above.
I think the next steps would be to get a used/scrap harness and strip out all the identified wires and plugs and use those to make a freestanding harness.
Likely the joint connectors could be bypassed by that standalone harness, so the circuits could be simpler.
From what Dale said above, the standalone may only need to be attached by one wire/circuit in the ecu (maybe to get the vehicle speed rating?) and to a power source/ground (and then to all the cruise control specific components).
Possibly the best source harnesses would be out of a 1992 JDM (version 1) manual version of Type S or Type X with cruise control feature. As i recall the majority of the cruise components connected to each other through the dash harness, but the instrument harness may be involved as well..
Running a separate harness outside your existing harnesses would mean less mucking up of those harnesses.(imo).
Someone who knows car wiring much better than me could likely point out flaws in my reasoning.
