94FD HVAC Blower motor only works on High
94FD HVAC Blower motor only works on High
The blower motor on my 94 FD recently stopped working on low and intermediate settings, but it does still work on the high setting. Does anyone know a "usual suspect" to start looking at to solve this issue? Thanks.
I had a write up on this a zillion years ago, may have been on my old website.
There's a blower motor resistor, this is a block that is in the airflow from the AC fan under the dash. Lower speed, more resistance, less voltage to the blower motor.
Mine died AGES ago, replaced with a new one from Mazda and good to go. If memory serves you can get to it relatively easily, don't have to remove the blower or evaporator box or anything.
Not sure if it's still available new.

Thanks, Dale! I just couldn't find the right thread to match my problem. As long as the car has been around, I was sure that someone out there had "been there, done that, got the T-shirt". Now, I'll just have to see where I can source the part.

Thanks, Billy. I found a Carquest one on the Advance Auto Parts web site for $62.14 (all in) to be delivered to me direct from the factory. I'll post here when I receive it and get it installed.
I received the resistor from Advanced auto Parts. Installation was straight forward under the right side of the glove compartment on the passenger side.
Everything works great now. Thanks everyone for the help!!
