Heater motor blower issues.
1988 vert
I took the motor out and used a volt meter to test current. When the air flow is set to low it has about 3 volts, high reaches higher 10's. I hooked the motor up to the battery and it works fine. I took the motor apart and the motor was in decent shape except for the massive amounts of crud.
What can be wrong?

Did you already get an answer to this Giirth? I recently had to replace the fan speed selector because the intermediate speeds were no longer working (only high and low). I don't see a description of the problem you're having so not sure what sort of issue you're trying to correct.

No answer yet..
In greater detail....
I took the motor out because it wasn't working. I got a voltmeter and attached it to the harness and Yes, it varies the voltage from low to high when the heater is adjusted from low to high fan speed. Low being around 3 volts and high around 10.5 volts. In between speeds varies in voltage too. So nothing wrong here.
I thought the motor might be plugged up because of some debris around it and sure enough, it was. I too it apart and cleaned it out. I put it back together and hooked it back up to the harness. The motor did NOT work.
I then took 2 wires and hooked the motor up to the car battery. THE MOTOR WORKS just fine. Sucker spun right up without a problem. No smell and no sparks.
So WTF is going on?

Does not help. The relays do click. It has voltage going to the motor. The motor works. It just doesn't spin when hooked to the harness even though the harness is getting power.
Maybe since the motor is getting higher voltage it's helping it spin? I'm at the point where I'm about to hard wire from the fan to the battery with a switch.

"If" all the wires to the fan motor "don't have voltage" when needed then check the 10 amp Meter fuse and the 30 amp Heater fuse.

At the Heater Relay lies a five wire plug. The Blue wire needs to have constant voltage to it. Does it? W/key to on and the Logicon set to run the heater does the Light Green/Black wire have voltage on it as it should? Does the Blue/White wire in this plug have a ground to it? If you have the controls set to have the heater fan working and there is no ground on the Blue/White wire then jumper a ground to this wire and see if it turns the fan on. If it does then the problem lies withing the Logicon as its job is to place a ground on this particular wire.

The wiring colors in the previous post were for an S5 and not an S4 Vert. The proper wire colors are as follows. The blower unit has seven wires and the Blue wire should have constant voltage and the B/Y wire should have voltage w/key to on. The Black wire should be a constant ground and the Blue/Yellow wire has ground when the fan speed is set to full and the Green/Red wire has a ground at all other fan speed settings.
