yah, the ic was the cheapest part of the whole project-$75 at a salvage yard. the reinforced silicone hose from turbonetics -$120 for the 4 pieces was...well you get the picture

1200 is still a pretty good asking price for something that quality

what kind of duct is that? also I noticed you moved the fuse box, is it as simple as sliding it over or did you have to cut/extend any wires?

Thanks

thanks for the compliment...but i've only put about 200 mi on it so far...a little more testing is in order. also, i haven't dynoed yet, so i'm trusting german engineering will prove to be worth the trouble. i have a question for those of you that have ics, will the ic alone make hp or do i have to turn up the boost?

A better intercooler allows you to run more boost safely, only if you have the fuel of course.

gohorns- i moved the battery and left plenty of cable at the fuse box...no i didn't have to extend any of the wiring harnesses wires. the duct i laid up in fiberglass. i started with the stock duct...filled it with spray foam-the kind used for insulation, then when i expanded it to the shape i wanted, i covered it with drywall mud. this form was the mold i covered in glass...very time consuming but i'm cheap

I fuse box I was refering to was the one in front to the intake, did you move that box? Also I am in the process of making a duct for my HMIC, and could use some pointers. Did you modify the stock duct or did you copy its shape and then went from there. Any info/pics about making the duct will be appreciated.

Great work BTW, love a custom job

gohorns-no i didn't have to move the relay box(in front of the stock airbox). i did start with the stock duct...i just blew it up as much as possible. fiberglass,fiberglass,fiberglass...now repeat. sorry no pics of just the duct, although it is a work of art.

Damn that IS a thick core, but aren't the diameter of the pipes a bit smaller than stock?

A good system will make more power at the same boost. Cooler intake temps and lower pressure drop across the IC increase HP, even at the same boost level.

tad-i want to keep the stock airbox...it has cold air ducts up from the bottom. flybye-the piping diameter is slightly smaller...but with this being a pressurized system the loss must be small. i would love to know the pressure drop across this ic vs. stock. i'm planning dyno tuning for my pfc towards the end of the month and since i have all the stock ic stuff imay just do back to back comparo runs.

Nice work. Did you modify the stock inlet elbow? How did you do that, glue it?
