93 rx7 rebuilt pricing?

i know, i know another one of these threads. but u guys are the experts and i've been a honda guy for life. i'm crossing over now, and have found a seemingly nice fd.

here's the link to the auto trader ad what do u guys think? 99,000 miles on the body. i'm not feelin the diamond plating, but whatever thats no problem. i'm gonna call him up for more details so maybe u guys could give me some questions to ask him. if it turns out to be good i'll go check it out and offer 14.5k cash.

any thoughts welcome! thanks for lookin.

That's the car from rotaryextreme.com I have heard about it but never seen it in person. And I don't know how well low balling this guy will work. There's alot of time and money in that FD. Also, with you just getting into the rotary world you may not want to start with something that drastic. If something goes wrong you'll have no clue where to start. And that car is also more than likely faster than any Honda you've driven. I'm not knocking Honda's because I still do work with R&D Motorsports and their Honda Challenge race car. It's a solid car, just be really really careful about what you're getting into. Best of luck. Laterz.

I second BoostedRex... enter the rotary world with some extra pocket change... maybe start off with an FC, it would be cheaper, plus if you break anything it would be less expensive to fix in an FC. Have you looked at any other 7s'?

I started with a '93 Touring coming over from the Honda world too. That was a mistake. You need to be able to set aside at least $1000 to $1500 in the first year for the "Oh shyte" category of things that will more than likely break. I now own my '93 and two '87 TII's. I really would look for something a little more toward the stock side that costs less. It will be safer for you, and if something does break then you'll have to money to fix it.

The price seems low to me. If you decide you want the car, you might wat to investigate this. Never trust the "need to sell quick" crap. Nobody needs to sell that quick if they could easily get 5-7k more for a car.

o i know. i was drawn to it by the price, but i decided against it for many reasons. i dont no much about rx7's yet, i dont know how the car was put together, and i really hate buying modded cars because i dont know how the car was treated. it's also already built so the best part is done. all the blood, sweat and tears that went into the civic to get it boosted were worth it, when it first started up and i took it around the block.

I ran the carfax. It has one minor fender bender. He changed out the front fascia and that is it. other than that it is clean

The car is not really that cheap when you consider, most people would spend 4 to 5K to paint, and clean up the interior.

I have talked to dan about this car. Read back on some of his posts. I think his moniker is Tooslow, or something like that. Anyways, I was looking at buying this car, but did not want to spend the extra dough to paint, do interior, replace AC.

that things probably work 20k if it's in good order and clean title.

why does it need paint? or was that at the time you were looking at it?

13B, I wouldn't go back to Honda's for performance ever again. I love my Honda's, but they can't begin to compare to what a well tuned rotary can do. Just my take on things. PM me sometime and we can discuss this further. Laterz.

Just my .02 cents, you might want to wait till you get out of college. Living where you do, you will need a winter car if it snows. The RX7 won't cut it.

I drove a worked VW throughout college and took it to various tracks in the Northeast as well as autocrosses and driving through moutains of snow to and from college. It was fun, not fast but it fit my needs. Then when I graduated and could support myself, I bought a TurboII and worked that up and went from there.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

It needs paint, because I am not a pimp , gold is just not a color for me.

and you are right the car is probably worth closer to 20K. He has rebuilt everything mechanically. I just cannot get over that paint.....
