93 rx7 idles rough until check engine light comes on
Hey I know you guys are big on doing your own findings but im maxed out, and I need help. I got the car about month ago and I changed the plugs, oil fliter, oil, and most of the vaccuum lines. The charge relief sylonoid located in front of the intake manifold is broken. Would that cause the problem I'm having? The car will start up right and run well as long as the check engine light is on. If the check engine light goes off, the car runs badly. It will stall out coming to a stop or it will have a low idle then the check engine light will come back on and it runs fine. Another thing is the smell of gas is so strong it burns my eyes, almost like straight gas. I have researched alot of things and I have some ideas about what it may be but I just wanted to see what you guys think of this. Thank you.

Strong gas smell is NOT good. IMO, don't drive it. Fuel Pulsation Dampner is a common culprit, but could be some other things. You'll have to investigate.
Pull the code on your check engine light and post back. http://www.fd3s.net/engine_codes.html

I found out that code 9 is water themosensor. My car also had hard times cranking in the mornings and page F193 of my manuel states alot of the problems I am having. Do you think that this could be the problem? The water thermosensor on the relationship chart shows fuel injection amount, could this be the reason I smell so much fuel? Thank you.

fuel smell and your thermo sensor fault is two problems. Dont mix them up. First, if I were you, find out what's causing the fuel smell. Most likely a leaky injector or the "o" ring at the injectors.
I would do a fuel pressure test. Test it at KL30 (accessories on, key second notch) and check fuel pressure. It should be around 32 - 38 psi if my memories served me right. Or at least its around that area. Then start the car and let it idle
check the fuel pressure. It should be around 38-42psi? I really am not sure about this one. Check the ETM that was provided on this site. It tells you all the spec for it.
If you found it to be 3x, but slowly dropping or dropping quickly, You've got a leaking fuel system. It's most likely your injectors, but before I get there, I would check all fuel lines, from tank to the front engine. If nothing is leaking, then it's probably the injectors.
After you have the fuel problem solved. Then go ahead and try to figure out your thermo sensor fault.
ETM probably tell you the specs on the sensor itself. Like the OHM readings on it or whatsoever.
If you need some more help, feel free to ask =)
