My friends VR6 corrado cought fire at 3:00am all by itself. Firefighters woke my friend up to tell him his car was on fire.

 

I'm really sorry for you. best of luck with the insurance. doesn't look like an extinguisher would of even made a dent in that inferno.

you HAVE to have better luck with the next car.

 

Time to check the 2 fire extinguishers in the 7...

Every single time I take the 7 out this sort of thing lingering in back of my head...not good.

Fire extinguisher saved my Cobra from turn into ashes...vaccum hose fell onto hot headers burst into flame 2" away from the AFR.

I'm considering the idea of putting a fire extinguisher system similar to the ones installed in our Formula Mirages into my FD, as I'm just now putting her back together, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let her catch on fire. It's a 93, and it's had the recall work done, but I think this might be a good idea...just put one of the pull switch activated ones in there...I see a fire..BAM...no more fire.

 

freakin FPD.....

install braided lines, upgrade to fuel pressure regulator with internal pulsation damper(SARD universal with FD3S adapter-combined roughly same cost as an OEM damper) someone here did a write up using Marren FPD...

....and if all else fails...repeated short bursts with fire extinguisher, preferably halon...
...sometimes screaming HELP! HELP! works....

I havent hear from you but I wanted to know what your plans are for your fire damaged car are. I am putting my 20B swap on hold because I would rather build a track car and put it into that. Please let me know one way or the other if your willing to let me buy it back from your insurance company.

The fuel rail recall doesn't stop probs! I'm in the middle of fuel work because of this - I smelt fuel in the engine bay, I thought it was the FPD, but when I got in there I found the hose had split down to the inner braid. It was leaking without any pressure in the system!
God knows how much was coming out under pressure. Treat this as a consumable the hose was perished due to heat - I cut off the swaged parts & twisting the hose to get it off the fitting nipples just caused it to disintegrate.

Sucks that it happened. +1 for being able to get out of the car safely.

I bought mine as a shell and I could see fire damage, but it looked like it was a poor stereo install and a wire under the hood shorted out. Relatively minor. Nothing like that inferno. Wow.

 

Im not a vulture, I just dont want him to let the insurance company scap it. If he keeps it for himself I'm fine with that, but if he does not want to keep it then it should go to a RX-7 person who will put it back on the road and not a junk yard.
