Arrow Minor fuel tank leak - repair or replace?

I noticed that my gas tank leaks ever so slightly when filled to the brim (not overfilled). It'll create a quarter size puddle everytime I fill it up. Also, it'll take hours to accumulate this amount of gas. I did notice that the previous owner dented the side of the tank ever so slightly, though the gas does not come from that area. The gas leaks from the very top somehow.

For safety concerns, I would like to resolve this issue. Has anyone had experience with gas tank repair or taken it to a professional to repair it? What are you opinions of this situation? Thanks.

Have you taken the pump access plate off to see if the gas was leaking in that area? Might just be a seal or hose there.

a previous owner put a screw in the tank, i didnt find that one out until i pumped it full and a shitload of fuel started to hit the ground. I welded the small hole shut, but I would have someone who knows what they are doing fix it, but replacing it is the sure fire way. Fixing a tank is not a safe procedure. You have to wash the **** out of it, then keep it full of water while blowing fresh air into it when welding, the fumes are always present and will never go away.

I will give that a check. Is there a seal (o-ring, gasket) or something that covers that area? Thanks for the reply, btw.

Yeah, I was reading up on gas tank repair and found out that no matter how much you "clean out" a tank, there will always be fumes. I was planning on doing a cold weld (epoxy), but I would rather not cheap out.

The access to the fuel pump is pretty easy. It's possible that you might have a bad seal. Take a look, maybe you just need a new seal.

Have you tried to see the source of the leak?

I haven't dropped the tank to trace it all the way, but the "trail" of gas does seem to lead up to the fuel pump. I'll take a look at it tomorrow.

Does anyone have the P/N for the seal?

Mine does that also, when topped off. And it doesn't have the air suction sound when I open the cap to fill up. In the 93 service manual its page f-102 for the fuel pump seal, but it doesn't have p/n.
