7 Psi

I just wanted to verify what I've read in the forum concerning about boosting only 7psi. I read that there is an eletrical connector underneath the upper intake manifold which if unplugged will only let you boost 7 psi. This has probably been discussed numerous times before but I just wanted to hear if there were anything else I should be looking for. Thanks in advance

don't think you heard right.

if you replace the 2 short standard rubber lines (which have pills in them) between the turbo and wastegate and turbo and TCA with some hoses w/o pills you will run 7 psi.

search for pills or 7*psi

If the pill in your wastegate is missing, you will only boost 7 psi. And yes, if the wastegate control solenoid is disconnected, you will only get 7 psi. The wastegate control solenoid is at the front of the UIM (with the turbo pre-control solenoid).

Many times, the two plugs for the solenoids referred to above, get switched. This will result in only 7psi.

Ok here's what I've found so far. I checked the lines coming from the actuator(wastegate control) and actuator (turbo precontrol) and found the right side of them both are capped off. According to the vacuum hose diagram listed in Rob Robinette's site, those lines are supposed to go to their respectives solenoids. Why are those lines capped off? I bought the car as is and I'm still learning the ins and outs of it. And also, the line that you insert the boost controller and the line coming off the actuator (pre control) with a restrictor have been T'd together and split off to go to their respective spots. Does this mean that the previous owner in Japan had a boost controller installed and decided to remove it??? I'll just buy new stock lines with the pills in them from Ray Crowe but I just want to know why was it like this to begin with. I hope somebody can clarify this for me. Thanx

it definitely looks like a boost controller was in there previously.

when i installed my profec b, i had to cap off that outlet on the right in your pic.

depending on what mods your car has, you might want to just look for a used Greddy Profec B (preferably not the newer spec 2 imo) and then route the hoses properly. the scuderia site in the FAQ sticky actually has some good info on installation of a boost controller.

btw - your posts are pretty annoying to read. how about some paragraphs here and there

sorry, I got caught up in the moment.

Now at least I know that capping that side of the actuator ( wastegate control) is ok

Thanks for help!

u there must of been a boost controller there since they capped that nipple. wen u install the boost controller, u have to take out the pills, which they probably did, took out the boos controller and put the lines back on without the pills thus your 7psi

Gee, what a nice guy, removed the boost controller and didn't put the lines back.

Either install a boost controller or replace the lines. You'll also need both the wastegate and pre-control pills. Actually, you should replace the pre-control pill and lines, even if you install a boost controller.
