7 almost alive again !
quick rundown or timeline if you will...
___2001___
-I bought my 95 Supra drove it around for about a year
___2002___
-It was down for 3 months converting to single turbo
-drove it for 8 months (it was great) then the tranny went
-spent 1 month locating tranny buying another set of tires
so I could drive it more.
___2003___
-drove it for a few months
-got tired of making payments, but really got
tired of the car (sold it for lots of $)
-bought my 94 Rx-7 2 weeks later flat out (not to be an ***) but probably the cleanest I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot as I was always looking for 1), garage kept, low/easy miles, stock, every record of oil changes, receipts, brochures purchase of sale, etc. I was soo excited and happy to get this car, blew the Supra away in terms of quality IMO
-drove it nicely for about 1 month and it blew an apex seal
-darn
-then the perfect car got backed into in my very own driveway not too bad, but bad enough to make me feel like this cars having its worst month ever.
-start spending and saving money for parts, pull the motor, give it Jim, get 99 spec stuff, basically spend a year watching my car look pretty lifeless in the garage... another
-my motors pretty much done being reman'd PLUS -hehe-
-my car is getting painted in 3 weeks
-all the goodies go on
-I can stop driving my 99 ranger around all the time
-I'm having withdrawls... I can't wait to turn the key for the first time again...
I'll post plenty of pics as soon as its done...
Later guys,
Scott

the first time you start the car after the rebuild is installed you will be pumping adrenaline for sure. I was and my car was only apart for like a month and a half!

what kind of supra was it a na or twin turbo? and what do you mean by better quality? the supras interior isnt as nice as the fd's.I think so anyways.
So throw out some comparissons.Ive never had the chance of riding in a supra so I only know what the fd is like.

it still amazes me the love people have for our cars. it's the worse addiction i've ever seen. most people get tired and sell their cars when they get problems, but FD owners generally caress their cars and tell them it'll be all better soon. what's up with that? lol

i dont know either.I love the look of the car and the performance.but damn is it a bitch to work on sometimes and of course also very prone to little problems or big problems.I mean no offense but the guy that started this thread got more life out of his supra than he ever did out of his fd.! month versus one year.Plus his tranny went out not his engine.Bummer.
One thing I dont get is why people sell their cars right agfter they just dump a couple of grand into a new engine or tranny.**** thats just a waste of your money.

I found the Supra for 16k and sold it for 34k after i put like 7 into it... nice turnaround wouldn't you say ?
well the supra was turbo (SP57) everything from the ride quality, handling, braking was 100 x crisper on the 7 no bias either. I loved the supra but after a while it was boring b/c i really knew everything about that car and it didn't interest me anymore. I went to the Supra meets and everyones car was exactly the same, putting down good dyno #'s and on an avg... mid 12 sec passes at best. And I admire cars in general put they always would talk **** on 7's when I thought the 7 was always a bit more exotic looking and a more challenging car to work on for a real die hard tuner.
I'm 7 for life now, after just one month of driving it... I've still looked at it everyday for the past year and invested a lot of my free time and money into it.

wow is all i have to say.considering car and driver rated the supra as a better accelarating better handleing and better braking car overall. But I guess numbers arent everything.I still want to at least ride in a mk4 supra to compare the two as far as everything goes. The only real thing that scares me with the rotary is its ability to pop at any time .Having that over your head sucks in a big way.
I might look into an sr20 swap if its feasible.Meaning not very costly. But then again something like that probably will cost and arm and a leg.

I believe its a close one Supra Vs. 7 statistically, but i thought the 7 was a better handling and braking car hands down.
anyone have those #'s if you do throw the z06, 300zx, 3000gt/stealth and the evo8 if possible... it would be good to have a stats comparison on all of those cars in stock form.
Thanks,
Scott

There is also a site where they compare the 300zx tt, rx7, supra tt, and a 3kgt vr4...the supra wins in pretty much every category minus one ( I forgot)

yeah, i saw some #'s somwhere and I dont think the supra is a better braking/handling car... actually, from driving the thing for 2 1/2 years and being an experienced driver I feel the difference in the 2 and the 7 will hug a turn and brake better than the Supra any day IMO...
I would like to see the facts though...

I think the Supra won in the car & driver shootout because of braking. It didn't win by much over the RX7 which was 2nd. I can't wait to start my car ...it's driving me !
