6 speed?

Does anyone happen to know where I might be able to find a 6 speed transmission? I've been looking through all the tuner magazines for adds, but I haven't been able to find anything for fd's. Thanks a lot.

Search it.. Greddy makes a 6 speed for like 6900? But you have to send them your stock housing.

i dont know why you want a 6 speed, 5 speeds are usually better for turbo cars.

ummm if ur really set on a 6 speed, just throw an ls1+t56 swap into ur car. then u have a tranny that is rated to 550+ lbs of torque on the stock internals. good luck, as others have already stated the 5 speed is really well matched to the stock rotary and has good enough gear ratios.

Because 6 is always better than 5, just like 8 is better than 7.

Yeah, just toss one in. It'll only take the afternoon to get it all swapped and buttoned up.

Ha Ha, surely nobody thought I was serious. It is funny, just the other day a co-worker asked me when I was going to "upgrade" to the RX-8. It is just how the general public (or occasional newb) sees things - more is obviously better.

^^well come on

you have to be more open minded..our cars are great yes, compared to the 8 now? yes is most cases but you cant be saying that for the next 5+ years or so..

lets say if they EVER do come out with the 2007 (example) mazdaspeed rx8 and it turns out pretty well, are you really gonna say that our fd is still better than that?

as the years go by, it gets more advanced and obviously our beloved cars will be nothing but of the past with outdated technology..

I couldn't agree more, but right now I do not consider the 8 to be an "upgrade", and neither did Mazda. If I found a car that I would enjoy more than my FD and could justify spending the cash to buy it - I'd do it. I am not one of those that thinks the FD was, is, or forever will be the best car out there - It was not, is not, and never will be. But it is a car that I really enjoy. My original point was that most people don't have a clue about any of this stuff.

I GUESS THAT AWARD IN 1993 WAS NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT.

Sorry I'm so late about this (couldn't get on this weekend), but what's an ls1+t56? This is my first car so I'm just searching for the good things to do to it. Thanks.

A "good thing" to do to it wouldn't be to swap in something you don't need.

Like I said, this is my very first car. I didn't even like cars untill I saw this fd, so I'm looking at different ways I can make it different and better, and I've seen a couple of them that road race and they both have 6-speeds, so I just figured there must be a reason for them to do it.

Since it's your first car, don't do anything to it to make it "better." Just get used to how it is now.

Well, that's pretty easy to figure out, isn't it? The reason is they roadrace on a closed circuit. Do you?
