all jdm models came with 2+2 seats except sport models from the r2 onwards, eg rz, bathurst...

my jdm 92 S model has them as stock and even though i've picked up the rear storage box setup i will be sticking with the 2+2 because

- the rear seats are cut pretty deep so they act as storage bins anyway

- my 2 kids, aged 2 and a half and one, actually fit in pretty well, but if you need leg space the front passenger has to suffer as the driver shouldn't go forwa

- carrying an adult across town sideways across the back is much easier with them, (don't know about you guys but i never knew what i'd drag back from partys)

- with the rear seats the top folds down to allow a large flat space if needed, when up it stops stuff in the rear flying forward

- here in japan you are much much less likely to have stuff stolen from the car and don't need the 2nd lockable box

however if you like dressing up your engine bay, how many people see in there during a normal year?, having rear seats is nowhere near as hard edged as having just the boxes, (and you must save a little weight when you ditch the extra seat belts)

probably in the older half of this internet group

I am still looking for a set of these seats. If anyone has a set in the States they don't want; heck and might want my bins in a partial trade...

I had this same question in a similar thread a while back.

The general concensus is that it would not affect insurance rates because the insurance company uses the VIN number from the car to find the rating. Unless you had a foreign FD with 2+2 already installed I dont think that it would make a difference. You could always try and ask though.
