4 rotors?

How common are 4 rotors now adays? I'm comming back to rotaries and I noticed on youtube a bunch of new 4rotor cars and was wondering if they were becomming more common place or if its just a novelty type of thing still. Seen a few in FD's and even one in a RX-8. I though 3 rotors were rare before but it seems like there are even more videos of 4 rotors then there were FD's with 3 rotors in them. Are these guys welding up their own shafts to support the 4 rotors or is someone actually making them?

P.S. I have no delusions of dropping a 4 rotor in to my FD. If anything, I'll drop a n/a 800hp ls7 in before even a 3 rotor much less a 4 rotor into a FD.

Not common at all, that's EXTREMELY custom work. You would either have to be a full-on machinist with all the tools to make custom parts for the job or have VERY DEEP pockets.

There's probably only a handful in the world to be honest.

4 rotor?...Puh...old news. I'm going 6 rotor next year!!

As Dale said, a 4 rotor is complete custom machine work. This is not cheap or easy.

I see this getting moved....

several places down here in NZ make 3 and 4 rotor eshafts and motors. PPRE (pulse performance race engineering) and Kiwi-RE instantly spring to mind.
not that common, but there are a few on the tracks down this way.

anything more than a 3 rotor will never be common, because you are talking $20k to start the project.

it will never get cheaper than that, ever.

(well ok, i'm lying. i am working on a more conservative setup that may be a little cheaper, if it works as well as i hope)

i can believe it, but i don't believe it will be breaking any records. the shorter the shaft the more power it can take with less deflection.
