Arrow 4.33 gears - not enough

I remember a year or more ago you used to be able to buy 4.7ish gears with the long pinion. None of my vendors carry it anymore from what I can tell. Does anyone know where to source something lower than 4.33?

damn... I haven't posted here in a hot minute.

Knightsport makes a 4.77 ring and pinion for the 3rd gen. Although it is not list on their website anymore you can buy it at RX7.com. Right now they are out of stock, but they have 2 on the way should arrive mid to late February.

Tell Mary I said hi .

I've heard of the RX-8 guys switching to FD sets to save on gas mileage. There was also another thread where they found out they could get the same 4.77 gears from the mini vans or something like that for a fraction of the cost. You'd have to search the RX8 forum.

It sounds sketchy. I think the rx8 has the short pinion whereas the FD has the long pinion. Dunno though. I'll try those other leads. Thanks guys.

So from the sound of it, the RX8 gears will swap in but you need to shim it and change a bolt. Anyone know any more about this or know anyone that has done it? 4.44 would be perfect.

The S2000 and RX-8 diffs gears are interchangeable, surprisingly.

My research shows they are definitely not interchangeable. You might be able to shim one or the other but they aren't the same gear set.
