mkoch1 - Im wanting to get the 4.777 final gear. Can you remember what speeds you do at the end of each gear with it? Also you say it was good for the street but I only ever race my car at Brands Hatch race track so Im hoping this will help alot but I dont want to have to keep changing gear on the track more often. Also what revs were you at at 70mph?

Nice Ultima by the way. Thats my next car aswell

Wow, welcome back thread. Long time no see.

I never ended up running 4.33's in any of my cars. I did however buy Mark Koch's FD w/ the 4.77's so I ran those.

1st - 25mph
2nd - 50mph
3rd - 80mph
4th - 120mph
5th - Never topped out (guessing around 145-150ish)

These are roughly what the gears did to my car....maybe a 2-3mph difference from that.

I'm really contemplating going with the 4.3x gearset.....I feel that with my non-seq BNRs, it will help minimize the effects of my low end lack of power. The stock 4.10 is great for cruising at 3k rpm and having the responsive stock seq twins right there and ready to give you the kick in the pants, but now I need ~4k rpm for that same burst of power.

scroll to the bottom of the this link to see some speed diffs at 7500 rpm in each gear for 4.1 vs 4.3:

Many many years ago I rode in an FD fitted with the 4.3s, and seem to remember the car turning ~3500 rpms in 3rd gear at 40 mph. That's how I found out the car was running the different final drive---I remember thinking, either I am crazy or he should be at 3k rpms, lol. I won't mind cruising at the higher rpm, and figure it will get me closer to my powerband anyway.

It seems to be a complicated decision....the last thing I want to do is get the 4.3s in there and regret the decision. sigh.......

:
Are those figures based off the stock HP. Because, those figures don't add up with high HP cars.

Hmmmm! That seems to short I think. Maybe the 4.33 is more for my set up. Thank you for your help.
