3rd Gen Web Site - Help Needed (Steve Cirian's)
Greetings,
I am looking for sonmeone to partner with me on my 3rd gen web site:
http://www.ScuderiaCiriani.com/rx7
I don't have as much time to work on it as I used to, and am buiulding up a huge back-log of content I need to add to the site.
I have a lot of ideas for the site, but no time to implement them.
So, let me know if you are interested, what sort of ideas you have, why you woulkd be the best person to help out (assuming I get a lot of responses), etc.
Cheers,
Steve

Steve,
I love your site. It's always been a great help for me. I'm too busy to help by doing alot of work, but if you need some help with small things like consolidating info let me know.

Steve your site is the single best resource for FD owners out there. I always check it first, then here. It already covers a wide majority of everything FD. A few things I would like to see, are some updates to certain parts of the page with other products, maybe more picture intensive or even video how to section and some links for parts, tools, important things needed. (Where to buy etc...) A different search engine that runs and loads quicker and indexes page different would be nice as well. Maybe we could incorporate cool things like Max's fuel calculator, and add a drag calculator or something? (Maybe not)
I'd be willing to help with any part.

I agree it would be nice to see the site more picture intensive. I would be interested in helping out with that portion if at all possible. I know a little about html maybe I could help out there too.

i agree, more pics=much easier to understand things. thats what makes robrobinette's site so good even though it never gets updated. that is not to say that your site is not just as good. both of your websites make owning a fd much easier then nearly any other car i can think of out there becuase of the indeepth how toos and info! well this site adds a lot to that as well

Steve,
I think what would be great is an HTML visual program that you could enter in wheel widths and offsets that would give a "rough" visual feedback on if the entered size would fit.
How about that for an idea!

It sounds like you have some pretty smart, helpful members here to assist you Steve.
If I can help in some way let me know. Your site has really helped me, and still helps. I just want to say thanks and I hope your site will be around for a long time; it is one of the best FD resources - period.
I can't wait to see the updated version!

Steve,
I'd be willing to help. I can design, code, do database ****, you name it.
I think having a database driven and more "active" site would be a great improvement over the static content, the options are endless.
I also have a bunch of servers in a 1/4 rack at a data center that are doing absolutely nothing right now if you need anything along those lines.

HTML, CSS, Javascript, SQL, PHP I've done a little bit of everything and can help out anyway possible. While having a nice fancy site would be nice, I don't think anyone wants the site to lose it's true purpose. We could Jazz the site up with all kinds of crazy stuff, but in the end its the content and how its presented thats important. I think a lot of people would be disappointed if we went real crazy. There is a whole bunch of things we could do, we could have flash, translate some of the pages to Spanish or other languages, but is it really needed?
More picture intensive as earlier suggested would help. Also reorganization of the content might help make it easier to navigate.

Steve your site has guided me a lot and I have referenced it even more.
I think the least I can do is try and help you out a bit - I have a great collection of pictures and also I could do some right ups on subjects that might interest newbies.
In any case let me know what I can do to help ouy.

I'm with glass on this.
Keep the design simple. All I want is info, a helpful pic AND a good search utility so I can find what I'm looking for.

Greetings,
Thanks for all the replies. I am going to try to figure out how we can coordinate this with at least a few people collaborating on it.
I also picked up Dan Mazzella's "FD3s.net" web site and domain, so I think that is a better address for us than "http://www.ScuderiaCiriani.com/rx7".
Once that transfer goes through (and it looks like it just did), I will move to a new hosting provider and put up the Lightning content there, and do a redirect from the old URL.
The hosting is about $5 a month at 1and1.com. I don't want to accept advertising, as that would limit us in terms of what we could say, force us not to offend anyone, etc. Not that I want to offend anyone but I do want to be able to post honest feedback about products, etc.
Any ideas on how to pay for the site?
Cheers,
Steve

This page is also pretty good. http://reganrotaryracing.tripod.com/rx7main.htm What happened to Brooks old site (Brian's)? It has some good info on it as well. You could put some paypal donation links on the site. Maybe someone who's got the hookup would host it? Maybe Jason will host it? Ad's do suck, but they can cut the cost down.

Also another thing I've done in the past to save server space and room is have different host for different content and media. I had a friend who didn't have a lot of storage space, so I had images hosted on Photobucket, the index on the server and video and other stuff hosted someplace else. It's a bitch to update though. I would offer to host it for you on my home server, but the 768kbps upload isn't going to cut it. As soon as fiber becomes available, I'll host it. Maybe you can bring back the video section and Vosko could host the files?
