sounds like you'd be way in over your head.

buy one thats complete, one that runs and has a solid boost pattern.

oh and read the FAQ, like, right now.

that car's worth like...crap

I wouldn't touch it..

Basically:

"jack ****" knowledge/experience + motorless FD + missing body components = hell of a time.

Basically, I agree with the guy above me.

Just think really hard about this--do you have a passion for this car or do you just like it? Just some food for thought!

You can buy OEM Mazda parts from Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda, 888 533 3400.

Those 99 spec parts are worth quite a bit, ~$3 grand if it comes with the real spoiler.

Rich,
Do you work for Ray now? Be honest with this poor bastard-kpkicker16, if you buy this car you'll be broke in a year. They are ver expensive to own...let alone fix.

My $.02:
If the engine runs well, has good compression, no blue or alot of white smoke from the exhaust(some white smoke on startup is ok), then I think $5.2k is a steal considering it comes with the 99 spec parts. If you're mechanically inclined, you should be able to replace the miss parts and any turbo issues. You'll probably be able to find most of the parts in the forums classified section. Try to find out how many miles are on the reman.

BUT the first thing you should do is read the FAQ sticky at the top of this forum THOROUGHLY. It'll give you alot of info on what you're getting youself into. FD's are great cars, but they'll suck your wallet dry.

Considering a new paint job would be $4k+ (for a GOOD job), I think it's a terrible deal.

If the previous owner was stupid/cheap enough to spray paint it black, who knows what else has been done to the car! If you truly want a project car, then offer less money and get it. If you are trying to get an FD for "cheap", then I wouldn't recommend this one. And read the FAQ please.
