2 fd's only one in the line up right now, and boy is it costly.

there is no way someone who is 16/17 can save and outright buy an FD. unless, that is, it is a scrap pile for around 3-5K.

i am the executive chef at a very prominant restaurant here in jackson mississippi, and make a good salary. even i have trouble footing the bills for the fd. fully built motor from pettit, every other goodie imaginable, and more on backorder, regular order, and hand crafted.....etc...you get the pic. by no means am i *hating* on ANY OTHER FELLOW rx7 OWNER, but do not be afraid to admit that there was a bigger hand in the purchase of the car, especially if you are under 18 or so. i do not know where/hoe you guys say you outright bought the car personally, but i am skeptical. there is NO BANK or credit union for that matter that will loan the money for an rx7, aspeciall at the street $ some of them are going for. i know my bank's current loan value for a 93 touring right now is less than 10K......even wit low miles.....most of them sell for upwards of 13-15K.

congrats on all the young owners, but for some of the replies out there, i gotta throw this one out......

denial is contagious.......

>>Interesting that most 3rd Gen owners are between 20 and 25. How the heck do you guys afford the car??

Thats because guys in their 20's can still afford to put every cent they make into the car... you get a little older and wives, houses, retirements, and kids eat in to your mod money. At 32, i can't live at mom's, and just can't bring myself to drink Milwaukies Best anymore...

There's a lot more FD's out there than I thought! I'm scared to see what (if any) kind of insurance companies are supporting the younger ones on here... No flames, but F&F seems to be boiling in the younger crowd....

All I can say is that I'm glad I didn't have this car when I was 16. I had an '83 gsl and managed to get into plenty of trouble witht hat one...this car would have put me in jail or in the ground...

I'm 37. I got my car 8 years ago by selling one of my ********* and one of my kidneys. Everything is great except that I might have to sell my other kidney so that I can get another engine. Don't know how long I can keep this up as I've been unemployable for the last 5 years.

I'm 19 and I just got my new Red FD about 2 weeks ago

With my dad as a cosigner I got 16,800 from a credit union @ 5.75 interest for a 5 year loan...the guy was asking 22k for the car, I cut a deal for 18,250...the car has Apex GT spec exhause, RE amemiya intake, fluidyne radiator, koni shocks, H&R lowering springs, aluminum AST, 1k boston acoustics sound system with alpine deck, super nice clifford alarm system, new cat, HKS pulley, battery relocated, new paint job, and flawless interior.

The primary owner was the founder of the San Diego Rx7 club, he bought the car in 98 w/ 9800 miles and maintained it very very nice

I've been an Rx7 enthusiast for quite some time (way before that stupid movie came out) and I plan to keep and properly maintain this car for a loooong, long time

some advice for the young kids buying fd's......if you are not rich already.....if you save the money that you are going to spend on a rx-7 and the money that you will put into it to keep it on the road, not to mention insurance......you will be able to buy a ferrari by the time you're 30.....i am 24 with a 3rd gen. and wouldn't trade it for a ferrari....

good-luck and i am very jealous of these 16-18 yr olds that can afford a 3rd gen....

I am 53 and personally don't think an inexperienced driver should have this car. My son wrecked my 1976 Datsun 260Z the first day he got his license. 'But it wasn't fast enough for him'. Right!!

93 Touring bought new
Jet Coated down pipe
Fluidyne Radiator

I think an Rx-7 owned by inexperienced drivers is sometimes referred to as "population control"

Damn...Kids got it going on these days. I'm 30 but I still feel young and I still have control of my bladder. I wish I was living that large at 16. When I graduated HS in 1989 I was driving my parents hand me down chevette.
Try getting *** in a chevette - it's a hard sell, trust me.
