3k warmup

im worred about my car, normally when i start it, it imeadtly revs up to 3k from a cold start. for some reason, now it doesnt. it will rev up, but only to about 2k, and its slow getting there. could the cold weather be causing this? and is this a problem? i hope im just paranoid.

Sounds strange, I do not think that would be caused by the cold. Is your oil level at the right level??

I think you should be happy it goes to 2k, one of the worst things you can do to a cold engine is revving real high.

Mine has always done that... sometimes it will do the full 3k warmup... sometimes not at all... and I think sometimes only up to 2k... I think it may be dependent on a few factors(engine temp, oil pressure... dont know)

The AWS activates sometimes, but not always, when you have a cold engine. Not sure why but that's what I get. I usually tap the gas when the engine starts to lower the idle. Consider it a blessing...

the car runs normal after the warmup. is it hurting the car by not going to 3k at warmup? idle is about 100-150rpm low when warm. i had a compression check done, and the guy said thats why it idles a little low.

AWS was designed to warm up the pre cat quickly at the expense of cold engine wear. It's to satisfy emission. Disabling AWS is a good thing. Consider yourself lucky
