I run it year round in all my vehicles and also put it into rebuilds that I install. It offers better protection at high (oil) temps, which the rotary generates a lot of. IT is also a bit of an old school trick to run thicker oil in engines that burn oil/smoke, to keep the smoke down, and I like the idea of that in a turbo rotary as well.

Yep, I run that in my Honda Accord (389,000 Miles). It smokes a little when I run 5/30 but if I run 20/50 the car runs nice and clean with no smoke

Thanx for the info everyone, i switched from 10w30 because although i'm in buffalo,ny , i only drive it during the summer which actually average in the 80's. When i changed the oil when i was running 10w30 it came out like water after 2000 miles. I have just heard that it is bad for the seals to run 20w50 but i would guess just in cold temps. I do have an oil leak which actually sparked this thread, but it is coming from the oilpan gasket. So in the end all is well and i thank those who participated.

i run 20w50 in the summer, its a little thick for starting in the winter depending on how cold it gets where you are and how well your ems is setup for cold start.

389k on an accord is not a record, more like normal. Those things run forever

the thinner the oil is, the more efficient it is.
why do you think all the new cars use 5-20 or 5-30 (energy conserving" oil?

Damn, I thought my 91 accord with 290k was a hardcore beater. Now I know it'll last me another 100k.
