I can't wait for the year 2012, I'm going to use it to make money.
Think about it, all these freaked out people thinking an asteroid is going to kill them....I'm going to sell asteroid proof bomb shelters . If the event actually takes place ( rrriiggghhhtt) and the bomb shelter works, great, if the event never takes place, well they wasted their money, and if the event does take place but the bomb shelters don't hold up.....well in that case who the hell cares because we are all dead anyway.
I really can't lose.

My honest opinion is the Rx7 along with a few other such as the supra, mr2, 300zx will all be the vehicles to have of that era much like the mustangs, camaros just like they are doing now with the older body styles they will re-introduce it with the newer technology of the current times much like ford and chevy with there new challenger and camaro and fords mustang but if its the same time frame that wont be untill 2043 which if IM alive at that time i would buy one

yes cars and gas will still be around, however gas will probably cost as much as you make to drive it daily.
gas powered cars will become a hobbyist only mode of transportation in about the next 15-20 years.
mazda already realized this and aren't ready to give up the rotary engine they invested so many millions into developing otherwise they wouldn't be screwing around with the hydrogen power still.

I think he was asking if there are going to be plenty of replacement parts for the FD in 2018.. 2019.. 20.. 25 or whatever... Not if there´re going to be CARS in 2018
I think its a good question since in 2018 an 93´FD will have 25 years and we all know that the FD isn´t such a popular car.

I just finished installing a Flux Capacitor on my FD. Website to get parts from the PAST ONLY to be posted soon. In 2036 the moon will get hit by a meteor. One half of the moon and the meteor falls to earth(will not discuss the lives that will be lost)in it, we discover two new metal alloys which will defy gravity. This will bring a new breed of self propelled flying vehicles which will also solve obesity in who will be left in the world. In 2050 all roads will be clear of commuters and roads left to enthusiast unpoliced. I brought back two Zero Gravity suits, maybe I will sell one for the right price.

Rich get shelters
Poor get tin foil relabeled as a protective trailer covering
And the middle class knows better, so I'll set cameras up in all the shelters so they can watch and laugh on pay per view.

This is complete nonsense. If you're up on the news you'll know that there just was a giant oil find off the coast of Brazil. This is on top of untapped reserves in Russia / Siberia, and elsewhere....not to mention an oil field in the Gulf of Mexico that the Cubans with Chinese help are going to uncork. (Why the U.S. isn't doing this is a scandal, but the attitude exhibited in Karack's post has something to do with it.)
There's a reason gasoline is the standard of the world. It's cheap and it packs the most energy of any known fuel, including those on the forseeable horizon. So don't bet against it. Factoring in inflation it's still cheap....cheaper than bottled water...and what's more plentiful than water? With some relatively minor exceptions, your children will be driving gasoline powered cars.

What's amazing about gasoline is that it's as cheap as it is.
First, they have to explore to find it deep underground. Then, it has to be drilled out of the ground, transported in its raw form (often long distances) to a refinery, go through a process to turn it into gasoline, then transported to many different locations around the country so it's available at your local service station. And all this is done at a price that greatly undercuts many other common liquids you buy.
Check out this article by the journalist Stephen Goode:
Think the price of a gallon of gasoline has become unreasonable? Consider what the following would cost if you bought them by the gallon. It makes one think, and puts things in perspective,
"Diet Snapple at $1.29 per 16 ounces would be $10.32 per gallon. Lipton Iced Tea at $1.19 per 16 ounces would be $9.52 per gallon. Gatorade at $1.59 per 20 ounces would be $10.17 per gallon. Ocean Spray juices at $1.25 per 16 ounces would be $10 per gallon. Brake fluid at $3.15 per 12 ounces would be $33.60 per gallon. Vick's NyQuil at $8.35 per 6 ounces would be $178.13 per gallon. Pepto-Bismol at $3.85 per 4 ounces would be $123.20 per gallon. Wite-Out at $1.39 per 7 ounces would be $25.42 per gallon. Scope at 99 cents per 1.5 ounces would be $84.48 per gallon.
"And perhaps the most extraordinary of all: Evian water at $1.49 per 9 ounces would be $21.19 per gallon."

So, I don't think you're going to see gasoline going away anytime soon.

But the price will keep going up until something else is cheap enough to replace it. The world can't produce oil fast enough to keep up with demand.

Don't believe that "peak oil" myth. They keep finding new reserves. I mentioned the one off the coast of Brazil. There have been others, and there continue to be.
You won't see oil running out in your lifetime, or even your children's lifetime.
It's true, demand continues to increase. India and China, for instance are demanding more and more. But it's still relatively cheap, especially when you factor in inflation. Gas was 50 cents a gallon in the mid 70's. But you could buy a Ferrari for under $20,000. Sounds so cheap, doesn't it? But then you weren't earning much back then either, so it's all relative.
There's lots of oil in the U.S. but we're living under all these self imposed limitations. Can't drill off California (can't even build a new refinery there.) Can't drill off Florida. Can't even drill on a little, tiny, patch on the north coast of Alaska where no one....and I mean no one.....lives within hundreds of miles.
