2001 Spirit R LHD FD?
I was reading the thread about the one and only Pearly White FD, and it reminded me of another car. It must have been around 2004. I went to Sevenstock in Irvine Calif. It was held at Mazda's corporate building in Irvine. They had a left hand drive Spirit R on display. I dont know what year model it was. What a beautiful car!! As I recall, it was a silver color. Darker than the SSM FD. It had the red stitching on the seats. Everyone was drooling over it. I believe the vin plate ended in 00001. It may be the one and only LHD Spirit R. It was a new car, with virtually zero miles on it.
Does anyone know what happened to this car? Maybe Mazda still has it??

BS, thats nowhere near spirit R.. all the parts are from old models
and which of all the newer 2001 or 2002 models had a sunroof?
thats definately NOT a newer style airbag
Cluster is a cheap ebay knockoff
the center console DOES NOT come with the seat heater, and the high egt button there
Air intake duct is also from old model
ABS is F100... 93-95 units
Old Y pipe from the turbos.. i.e Old turbos too ?
mazda and rx-7 emblems are in the wrong height
A replica just any other made.. Probably Andy, Supernaut made a much better job

I dont think any of us know how far Mazda went when they upgraded that FD. From the video, it appears that the engine and turbos are up to Spirit R specs. That would likely mean that all the supporting stuff has been upgraded too. That should include: ecu, solenoid box, brakes, suspension, wheels/tires, and a lot more that would be included.
Many of you act like this car isnt anything special. I believe it is. Its a one of a kind "factory" car. Add to that the low mileage, and you can bet its worth a hell of a lot more than any other FD you will find.

What is the fascination with the Spirit R's? Here in Australia we have more of the 1996-2001 cars than any other type on the road.
They look newer, they have all the supposedly better ECU, turbos, airbags, etc... But you drive one compared to a 1993/1994 base model Japanese or USA car and there is not really enough of a difference to set the world on fire.
IE under all the newer, shiny pieces, the unibody is still the same. It still has two rotors and two turbos. They are not as mythical to drive as people make them out to be.
Okay yes, any FD is special to drive, but for an uneducated man who knows nothing of RX7's, you make him drive a 1993 base car, and then lead him blindfolded over to a Spirit R and make him drive that car. He's not going to be magically blown away by any major differences. I wasn't.
