16" rim traction issues?

What tire brands/companys are you useing to get decent tires on 16" FD rims? I can't find any drag radials bigger than a 255 50 16. Theres got to be taller wider drag radials for a 16" rim right? I need at least a 265 looking for a 60 series for the additional MPH & traction at the track as well.

Thanks
~A

Will you be able to actually fit wider than a 255 on the stock rim? Hell, a 255 would probably take a shoehorn to install.

What brand of drag radials are you looking at?

I've run BFG DRs in 255/50 in the back and it jacked up the rear of my FD like an old school muscle car. It's an 8 inch wide rim, it'll be tough fitting anything wider.......

I saw some dickweed in Hialeah (no surprise) put 265s on the stock wheels.

Just think of the V6 stang owners that desperatly try to look like the GTs by installing massivily sized tires on those puny 15" wheels....

Thats INSANE, like I said I would never go over 245, 255 is just risking destruction.

trying to install a tire that size on a wheel that small is extremely counter productive. Cramming it in there like that causes the traction surface to bow even at low pressure the sidewalls are still trying to convince the flat part to curve like them. Listen to these guys 245s will be fine, and you'll still probably break something.

Not concerned about breaking things, I don't even have an FD, Ive got an 87 rx-7 with a grand national drivetrain. But I had the opportunity to pick up a set of FD rims cheap. I've decided to go with some 15X9 weld drag lites instead, but thanks for all the info..
