Arrow 16 Bit Engine Harness & RHDJapan Question?

Among other things I need to buy an Engine Harness for my FD motor that's been collecting dust for months now and was thinking of buying it from RHDJapan.com,but I noticed that the Engine harness they sell is a 16 Bit.

So first question,Do these 16 Bit harness's work with our US Spec
cars or are they for the later model RX-7's with the 16 Bit ECU I've got a 93 FD.
Question 2.If they don't work with our US Spec ECU's will it work with a Power FC ?

Last question is.Anybody ever done business with RHDJapan.com,are they reputable? I think there prices for RX-7 parts are great!

first, I wouldnt recommend using the 16Bit harness, cause then you'll have two different harnesses in the car, and no computer to work with it, unless your wiring up from scratch.(haltech etc)Check malloy mazda for great prices for your year rx7. They do have pfc's for the 16bit, but then your right back to problem one. RHDjapan is great. Good service and trusted by now by forum members.

1. 16 bit will not work on the US(8 bit) version.

2. Yes, it will work with a Power FC only if you buy the version for the 16 bit.

You might have to extend the harness so it will connect properly. The Japanese version ran the wires to the left side of the car. US version ran to the right side.

no it won't work.

16 bit uses different plugs. not only the ECU, but you'll need to replace all other electronics and control modules to 16 bit as well. you'll be spending a lot more $ than just the harness.. just so you can use this 16bit harness..... not worth it

Crap thought I could save some money buying the 16 Bit harness $588 from RHD Japan vs $750 from Malloy Mazda
Oh well I'll just have to buy the one for the US spec cars then.
Hopefully when I get my tax refund I can get cracking on buying all these parts I need for my Engine install

thanks for the input guys!

I'm not completely sure about that. I have the 16bit harness and a 16bit Power FC (I bought an RZ engine or a 2001 engine, I can't remember)....I haven't test fitted yet, but I could have sworn it'll work with the rest of the electronics. You can swap a 99+ gauge cluster into our cars with no issues. I guess I should give it a test in the next week or so.

Are the ABS and SRS systems controlled through the ECU?

if you have a us car, i would stick with the us harness. I can tell you that not all of the pins are the the same location. Dont make your life anymore complicated.

do you have a US model or a Jspec? I am positive that they are not the same. the a/c pins are different, along with 2 other things,if I can remember right.

You're seriously stressing over $30? Just order the damn thing from Ray....you'll have to extend the low coolant temp wire and one of the grounds on a RHD harness.
