15 lbs?

Went out tonight, was playing with an acura for a little while, hit the gas and noticed that when first floored, the boost reached 15 lbs. Then it backs down to 10-12 lbs.

If I open the throttle more slowly, the boost peaks at 10. I think I will buy a boost controller soon.

But I was wondering if the warmer weather (this is the first really warm day of the spring - prior to now the temp was hovering around 60 degrees) allows the turbos to create more boost?

Any thoughts about the sudden increase in boost?
As I said, this was the first really warm day and prior to now, I was only maxing at 12 lbs.

Also, this weekend I took off and reinstalled the intercooler to tb hose. Perhaps this could be a sign of a boost leak?

i think it's harder to control boost when the weather is colder, not warmer.

it is. Cooler air = more dense = usualy more boost. So be carful on cold days.

sounds like you need that boost controller and possibly to port your wastegate....

I've been thinking about it today...

Could the wastegate be sticking?

Or the pills choked?

Anything else that can push the boost high overnight?

I had the same problem using my blitz turbo timer with it's built in boost gauge.
I installed an Apex mechanic gauge. Then ran both of them at the same time. It seems like everytime I quickly floor it. The blitz will always read higher. The Apex was pretty consistant.

Borrow another gauge from a buddy and check it out.

I can be almost anywhere in the RPM range... It only occurs when I go to instant WOT.

After looking closer at my gauge, I can also say that it is more line 13.5 to 14 lbs. As my gauge does not zero when the engine is off, it often shows 1 to 1.5 lbs at rest.

I live close to Columbia.

Thanks, I'll see if I can find another.

It would be nice if the Profec B I am planning to purchase could also report boost history.
