10W30 or 20W50?

I always use Castrol GTX 10W30, but I was reading on rx7.com that turbo rotaries should use 20W50. How true is this? I noticed that my car started smoking a little bit, most noticeable when pegging the gas pedal on idle, fully warmed up BTW.

Thanks

May 2004? I was expecting to come in to see a Dec 2007...

Depending on climate, a lot of FD owners use 20W-50 in summer, 10W-30 in winter.

10W-30 is fine for all around weather/driving.

Hotter climates, long city driving (especially in warmer areas), track driving, 20W-50.

I've had lots of FDs, they all get fuel dilution if driven under boost much. Given the fuel dilution issue I'd run the thicker oil 20W50.

BTW I never had to replace a set of turbos!
