10MPG on a STOCK rx7,new o2 sensor,plugs,Full exhaust,granny driving,lot of back fire

Hi friends...

I am waiting 4 my Turbo control actuator to arribe to my country, so I canīt drive the car hard until I get that part.

I replaced the O2 sensor 4 a new one ( the old one was fluctuating from 0 to 0.2 volt), I bought new spark plugs (NKG), and did Full exhaust with Downpipe...

I am not pushing my car, not driving hard, driving like a granny, and I only get 11 MPG on my stock 7, and I get a lot of backfire...(plooop, ploop, polop)

What can u sey to me? I dont think that the bad TCA can cause this...

Will a new fuel fiter help me?

What about the backfires? I think that means fuel not been burnt.

Good bye and thanks!

What ECU are you using? It really sounds like you need tuning. My injectors were running really rich so I was backfiring a lot as well. I had someone tune the ECU and it cleaned it right up. I have a PFC as my computer...

When I used to only make quick trips (< 2mi.), I would get some single digit MPGs. My car runs fine, as it gets in the ~24mpg range when I do long highway drives.

It sounds like you could have something as simple as a clogged injector. If you are thinking of a simi build you could upgrade the injectors to get it done and it might fix the problem (other than the fact that you just put bigger injectors in).

You should have a look at the MAP sensor. It is on the firewall on the driver's side. If it were bad, you could definitely be running rich, hence backfire and bad fuel economy. With mild city driving I woud expect you to get closer to 14mpg.

ok adam, but u have much more mods that I do.
I only have street/stript Clutch, full exhaust and donwpipe, and 17inch wheels.

Also, my trips are about 25 miles long per day. with a lot of hiccoups....

This last days i am running with allmoust no BOOST! cos I am waiting 4 the TCA

I think that maybe my ECU needs some remap and a fuel filter change.....

This could make sence...

How can I test if it is bad?

thanx!

Standing in front of the engine bay, it's on the right side all the way back against the firewall. It is immediately behind the plastic intake elbow. It will have a label saying "Boost sensor" or something like that. Make sure the rubber lines are connected securely.

If that does not fix it, I think you have an ECU or injector problem. FD injectors are rather finicky sometimes.

you mentioned plugs, but what about plug wires? If you you haven't already, change those.
