10-8-8

Installed my boost gauge yesterday and tested her out. 10-8-8. No mods that would affect the boost.

Any ideas?

A little loss up top on the secondary is normal from what I understand. Not positive though.

im pretty sure thats correct for a stock FD...once you add a DP you will see the common 10-8-10 pattern

I don't know if this is normal as mentioned above but i would check all the vacuum hoses for a leak.

Is it 10-8-8? Or more like 10-8-10-8?
I understand the latter is acceptable.

I'd say inspect your check valves.

you have a leak somewhere. this problem is not "normal" but it is common.

there are numerous threads concerning this exact thing, i myself have experienced this same problem.

most people with this problem can hear a sort of "fluttering" sound while the secondary turbo is engaged. There could be a problem with the turbo control actuator, the wastegate actuator, any of the vaccum hoses on the turbos, the 2 turbo control solenoids infront of the UIM, the vaccum chambers they are connected to, or any vaccum hoses at all. or you could have a clogged pre cat, or just failing turbos. In my case the vaccum hose to the Fuel Pressure Regulator had come off causing me to have an accelerated idle, bad vaccum at idle, and a "fluttering" 5-7psi when the secondary turbo was on line.

give me a few minutes and i'll shoot you some links to help troubleshoot the problem.

revsteve - in my case, I had 10-8-8 back in the day when my car was completely stock...so I would say you have a problem somewhere.
I've had a hose job done and was told the check valves completely crumbled in the mechanic's hands. I've had perfect boost since.
Check those along with the links stokedxiv is providing.

I agree. Looks like you have a leak. Double check your Y-Pipe and IC rubber couplers for splitting or loose hose clamp connection(s). Check all IC related stock plastic tubes for hair-line cracks, including the stock compression tube (elbow). Good Luck

Slap the DP on and then see if you still have a problem (and I'm betting you won't still have the problem).

That may be a while... If you want to get familiar with the car in the mean-time, you can take off the pre-cat (Not the main cat!!) and gut it... Results should be similar to a downpipe.

Seriously, I remember a thread not too long ago about someone who waited like 3 months for his dp, and eventually cancelled the order and got one elsewhere. M2 has issues with that for some reason, you might want to look elsewhere.

FWIW Rx7 Store sells the M2 downpipe. There are shady rumors, that M2 is going out of business, so yes, you will be waiting forever for an M2 downpipe from M2 LOL

What do you recommend as an alternative? I wanted the M2 so I didnt have to mess w/ the studs. Any other DP have that feature?

Sorry to get off track here... but could someone explain the 10-8-10 (boost pattern?) and how you measure that? Thanks...

A completely stock FD will do 10-8-10 and boost will slowly drop down to 8-9psi as you hit redline. A downpipe will keep the boost at 10psi to redline. As others have mentioned, if you haven't done it already, replace the vacuum tubes with either quality silicone or viton tubes and while your at it replace all the check valves. I ran into a boost problem where the boost pattern is 10-8-10-7-8. I checked the 2 check valves that you can get to without removing the UIM and both allowed undeterred flow of air in both directions. I'll be putting silicone hoses and new check valves in shortly.
