06 WRX talking trash...
This kid that i work with has a temp tagged 06 wrx and thinks he would take me easily. He does know a lot about cars but i dont "think" he has any work done to the car yet. I mean i just met him and he was saying how much i over payed for my crappy car and ****. I mean i paid $19,999 for it in 2002 from Peter Farrell, and it had 49,000 miles and it was in good condition. I mean that is a little high for the mileage but you always pay more when you don't buy from a private seller. Anyways, how badly do you think i will beat this kid? Mods are in sig. The only factors i have going against me are; bad bushings causeing horrible wheel hop and low -no traction- tread on the tires. So, i can't launch and i have no first or second gear do to lack of traction. I'm hoping he will settle for a rolling start but if he knows anything about his car he will want to go from a dig which may end up in a loss on my part. Oh well, i just wanted to get your all opinions on the matter, so let me know what you think.

I think he might have the boost up to 18 psi which is around sti boost right? but no i think it's just a regular wrx. Sorry, earlier i failed to mention that important peice of information.

He's only 18, purchased the car with his own money, and he said that the wrx is a better choice because supposidly the 06 wrx has the same engine as the sti but the boost is turned down to 11.5 instead of 18-19 or whatever it is. I'm not argueing for the kid or anything i'm just relaying the information i got. I hope i can beat him, always feels good to beat the cocky ones. He doesn't know much about the 7 though, he asked how many rotors is had, but at least he knew it had a rotary. He said his H4 motor is far supior to the little 1.3 we have. I mean i like wrx's but i definitly would trade in any wrx for a 7. I love my car but i never talk down to other peoples cars....unless it's something over riced.

Brent, PLEEEEEAAAAAAAAASEEEE lemme get a crack at this cocky guy. I will put a hurting on him SOOOO bad, he won't ever second guess an FD again - guaranteed. I WILL R A P E his car. And emphasize my wimpy 1.3L has 90,000 original miles, as do the turbos and the suspension

PS: Honestly speaking, I think the WRX is the better choice financially speaking. It's a brand new car, and will have tons of aftermarket support for years to come. The FD is 12 years old, not very reliable, and the market is slowly deminishing. Better choice vs. better sports car

New wrx uses 2.5L turbo, not the old 2.0L turbo. If he tweaks the boost a little, you better get tires if you want to take him in a 1/4 standing start.

Now that thats out of the way, take him on a roll...he doesnt want the roll just taunt, "i thought you werent concerned with the little 1.3L crappy engine. Didnt you say its inferior to your H4?"
Depending on mods, you should be able to take him down.

Don't agree with the comment about the diminishing market, I have only noticed more and more parts available since I sold my first FD in '02...

even with an *** load of mods he can't have that much power. no where near 300 to the wheels, plus he's heavier. get some wheels and just feather the clutch a bit more on the launch. my bushings are going and i can still get a decent launch, just gotta ride it a bit. and make sure you have spectators, it'll make it all that better when you throw it back in his cocky face

Everyone and there momma owns a WRX or STI out here in Reno/Tahoe. I've smoked all that I've come across in stock form....go figure. One kid out here with a stock FD(well was stock) raced a STI at the track with only one turbo working and lost by one car length. Got his turbos fixed and smoked him by 3 cars... Race a real AWD car and find someone with a new Evo.
