you probably wont have to worry about racing him anyhow if he is really running 18psi. Even on an STI which has bigger injectors and a bigger turbo, 18psi is pushing it as far as fuel delivery goes and you are still out of the efficiency range for the stock turbo. A stock 06 WRX (non-sti) will probably be detonating like its it's job at 18psi

227 is stock (non-STi) wrx hp, at least when they first hit the market. that's with the 2 liter motor.

300 is the sti, but still a heavy *** car. like point5 said if he's running 18psi he's either got a lot of serious money in his car, trying to blow his motor or he's just bs'ing you; probably the latter. let him run his mouth until you get some tires then just destroy him, rub it in like he has, laugh, then drive away. slowly

correct me if im wrong, but ive seen some wrx's running anywhere from 15-20 psi in stock form.. with just a boost controller.. safely.

you are wrong. it will blow up if you run 20psi on a stock wrx, and thats garunteed. On my STI, i was running 17 and i was nearing 100% duty cycle sometimes on my injectors. On a non-sti, you will most likely blow your engine long before you reach 17 without injectors, fuel rail, and pump. Even then, the turbo is way out of its efficiency range and is mostly just blowing hot air at that point. To run that much boost you need some cash

He'll smoke you on the launch and you won't have time to catch up unless you go past 75-85mph.

The '06 WRX apparently has larger injectors then even the STI, according to the guys at COBB who are working on maps:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...&postcount=100

Of course, there's more to it then just injectors, but it does make for easier support of mods.

Anyways, to the OP: just smile and nod your head politely, and go about your business. Do you really have to prove the obvious to someone that apparently doesn't know any better?

Being that the car is AWD, this probably won't work well since he will probably get a good launch. However, RWD and FWD is a different story. You can tell him that you will race him from telephone pole, to telephone pole on FOOT. I've seen it done, it works. Your usually half way to the next telephone pole by the time the guy in the car gets going anywhere. (Im talking normal length here, like in a residential area, like 15-20ft I think it is, maybe 30ft or 40ft at most.)

I can't guarntee you will beat him, but if he isn't a real experienced driver, you might. Either way, it will probably be so close, he would still look like a jack ***. Now, if your some huge fat ***, then forget it.

As far as the Rex vs. the WRX, I would imagine you woud beat him. A good friend of mine has an 04 WRX with a upgraded turbo, FMIC, UTEC, injectors, and full exhaust. The car was dyno tuned to 300hp or so. (I dont recall an exact figure). My friend with a stock port, stock turbo, 10th AE can still kick his ***, and all the TII has is a FMIC, intake, and full 3" exhaust, fuel pump, etc.

What ever you do..

DO NOT GET CAUGHT "RACING" IN THE GREAT COMMON WEALTH OF VIRGINIA.

They'll take your car, throw you in jail and throw away the key.

BTW: Just ask RAMY to borrow a set of rear wheel/tires.
Im sure he has like 4-6 sets. Maybe he got some MT ET streets. = )
Then Proceed to KICK That WRX's ****, show this guy who his
daddy is.

and be sure to let us know, when and where you guys decide to play.
maybe we can have a couple of FD"s and FC's show up.

i cant believe that this thread went back and forth for so long, even if it was an sti or and evo my cousin owned one and they are ******* slow in stock trim. my friends rx7 with 250 rwhp would own that thing daily. with 300 rwhp rx7 is gonna own it any day. even if he launches on you. It wont take much time for you to catch up and pass him like he is standing still. you are lighter and have a hell of alot more power. just dont get busted wasting ur time on a poser.

That's the biggest understatment in the world lol. You forgot to mention how they'll bend you over first... plus they throw you in jail for an overnighter on the spot...then release you, only so you can come back for a mandatory court appearance, where they'll throw you in jail AGAIN, but only after pulling your license for a year, and making you pay $2500. Can you say POWNED?! lol

I dunno what you're smokin. You must have had your eyes closed when I was attempting to launch my FD that time...I stalled. Or had such CRAZY wheel hop. If anyone knows how to launch, and VERY impressively, it's SlingShot. My hat's off to him man. We was putting the cars in their place at MIR. And wasn't you clutch slipping too?!!

and be sure to let us know, when and where you guys decide to play.

I'm ALL for that.. Brent...hook it up man! lol. I'm hungry! I'm looking for an easy kill!
