"£^"£%^"£$ god damn car.

yesterday for me was spent pulling the sump and re-sealing it for nurburgring.

I COVERED the ****** in RTF. Just took it out for a drive. drip....drip...drip....drip.

I could smash the damn thing up right now.

why is this happening? I went around ALL the engine mount holes, went behind all the bolt holes (as in sumpside of the bolt holes with the RTF, as opposed to wheel side) i really thought id covered everything. I put RTF on the bolts, i torqued them up properly (the engine mount bolts)

the only thing i didnt torque was the sump bolts themselves - these were done "fairly tight".

I cant understnad this!!!!!

yuck, i assume by "drip drip" you mean the oil pan is leaking. maybe the pan is warped or bent?

Um, you are supposed to let the RTF dry for 24 hours before filling the car back up with oil.

Did you clean and scrape the mating surfaces?

Do you have one steel and one aluminium mount or are you running the two steel mounts? If you have the two steel mounts you need to install a spacer (12mm nut works well) between the mount and the pan where the AL mount had a "nub" cast into it.

the right stuff works great but you must clean the surfaces spotless. make sure you remove all old gasket sealer then wipe down the sealing surfaces with acetone completely a couple times, then use the right stuff sealant. remeber clean, clean, clean the surfaces to be sealed. use acetone because it doesn't leave a residue.

I have one aluminium and one steel mount. I did leave it 234 hours before filling up...well, 20 maybe. I cleaned and scraped everything.

I dont get it, selant was oozing out of everywhere when i first did it so it must have got in everywhere!

Im going to get under the car AGAIN tomorrow and see if i can see the problem and maybe bandage it. I swear for the last week ive done nothing but bend over and crawl around under cars man!

So, what's the deal? The motor mount bolts have to be sealed? What do they go into that would leak? When I changed my motor mounts, they had some weird smelling stuff on them, but nothing ever leaked out.

woops I didn't use a spacer nut. A year and about 4k and no oil leaks so far. I did however use high temp atv on the motor mount bolt shafts when I reinstalled them. Hmm..don't fix it if it isn't broke right?

Dont know yet impactwrench, havent looked at it.

UPDATE: the sump is NOT leaking. ITs something further up. I think its coming from where the oil filter pedestal mates with the rear plate. Im going to tweak it up tomoorrow and see what happens.

There is a O ring there that probably needs to be replaced. Its easy about 10 min job.

as far as the motor mount nib, just mill it off, mill a recess in the mount, and put a bolt in the pan where it belongs, then no worries.

Sounds like it could be the front cover gasket or possibly the oil cooler lines where they attach to the block. Even more of a pain in the *** if it the front cover. If it is, get the metal gasket to replace the paper one they use.

I dont use a gasket on my front covers, never have - always worked a treat. Its definately something around the oil filter pedestal leaking, you can see the path of the oil there.

Could be the oil line, or more highly suspected are the O rings there as somebody said. ITs an aftermarket pedestal and has been pulled off a couple of times now...Im going to check it out tomorrow (before i drive to the Nurburgring, Germany )
