How much am I expected to pay for a FD with around 40k miles on original engine? I want the car to be completely stock, that way I can mod the way I want to. Also, I'm kinda tall - 6'2" would the R1 have more room since it doesn't have the sunroof, or is there much difference? sorry the the post that has been posted I'm sure 100,000 times...thanks!
just depends on where you are and how it goes -
anywhere from $14-15K for a nice stock car.
Around $17-19K for one with a moderate amount of mods -
remember, it is usually cheaper to buy one with the mods already on it.

14-15k sounds about right to me too. Some people are asking 20+K for their cars, but I don't think they'll get that anytime soon unless the car is pristine. If your mods you want to do require you to pull the engine apart, buy a high mileage one (90K+). I've seen those for 11K.
Someone traded an r1 into my the dealership where I work a few months ago that most likely needed an engine, and a lot of tlc in the interior. They took it to the auction and let it go for $5,500. Had I not owned one already I would have jumped all over that.
You'll get an inch more headroom without the sunroof. The FD is a tight fit, so you'll probably need it.
Now is a great time to buy a used car. The market is flooded with inventory. Try autotrader.com to get an idea of the price range. Right now there are 217 cars listed nationwide. Don't be afraid to bargain.
A lot of these cars aren't moving. A buyer with money in hand is in a strong position to talk down the asking price.

The second FD I bought had 40k on it and was ****** clean as could be,and I had no problem giving the asking price of $16,500. He had all service records from the dealership. He was the original owner and had to be at least 55years old. Needless to say it was all stock and never even been taken over 5,000rpm.So if you can find a clean one with low miles I say buy it if its affordable for you. Also Im 6'1 and I have a touring with sunroof,If I put my hair up with gel it bumps the ceiling and it's goddamn annoying so your better off without the sunroof.
