Thumbs up **how To Get Your 99-spec Gauges To Work**

lately ive been getting lots of Pm's on how to get the boost gauge to work so here it is.

its very simple just 2 wires missing that need to be connected. (- ground) and (map sensor signal)

(GROUND WIRE) - find a bolt thats grounded to the chassis and run a wire from there to the small bolt in the back of your 99-spec cluster that i marked [ADD GROUND HERE] in the picture below.

(MAP SENSOR SIGNAL WIRE) - find the map ->(pressure) sensor signal wire on the far right harness connector on the ECU the wire is green with a yellow stripe and has silver dots, next splice a new wire to it and run it to the back of the gauge cluster and connect it to the small bolt that is labeled MB or [ADD MAP SENSOR SIGNAL HERE] in the picture below.

post back your success!

Great info... so is everything else plug and play and this is only for the boost gauge?

This is def. the best thread i've seen about this topic. Has pics and the Circuit Diagram, rather than just telling you what to do.

i seem to have 2 problems with mine... I wired the boost gauge the way you have it shown and that seems to be working fine. The problem i have that the oil light is on in the instrument panel. I don't know if this has anything to do now that i don't have oil pressure gauge with that oil light so this one came on.

the other problem is that when i turn the ignition key on, the milage shows and it's working fine. When i turn the lights on the milage screen disapears. If i turn it off it comes back on...

What's the problem there.

Thanks a lot.

i think you need to change the oil pressure sender on the engine.

Hi Dennis,

Check your oil level sending unit on the driver's side of the oil pan. The sensor wire is fragile and can easily break.

See ya at Deals Gap

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a MAZDASPEED white face, 300km/h instrument cluster to suit series 6 & 7 FD RX7.

I personally own a series 8 and I purchased the item in full knowledge it was for the series 6/7 but being an extremely rare item it took me over 6 months of looking to find this one... and being able to have the oil gauge over the crappy stock boost gauge seemed like a good idea... I was hoping to fit this item to my car as i have seen older fd's with newer clusters fitted and i knew it was as simple as running a few wires to map sensor, etc. For boost gauge. I have plugged it in and all the lights and gauges work immediately but when I go to start the car it won't start...?

It is related to an earth but I'm not exactly sure where to start looking or what I need to do.

Any help. Info appreciated.

Cheers,

Ty

Damn, you should have contacted us, we could have gotten you the white MS cluster in less then 4 weeks. Not sure how to solve your problem, try re-setting the ecu (disconnect the battery and press the brake for 20 seconds)
