Painting engine parts and accesories

While my engine is out I decided to paint some of the engine accessories and intake piping gloss black. I'm using a 500 degree engine paint and so far things are going well except for one thing. It's a ceramic based paint and it chips very easily.

My question is, can I do anything to prevent the paint from chipping so easily? Is there any sealant I can use? If anyone has any tips please let me know.

One method you can use with the ceramic based paints is to bake or heat them. I've had and seen decent success with just using one of the little Home Depot propane torches for welding and going over the ceramic paint a few times to bake it on.
