I am one that used the right stuff, a new pan, the brace and Mobil 1. I did it twice due to not having enough R-stuff between where the pan meets the block and the tranny. That is a very hard part to seal. The key is to add extra gasket maker in that area. After following the procedure and now being very good at wedging the pan in under the block with only raising the tranny, I got it sealed. I have been like that for almost two years and not one drop anywhere. I am running Mobil 1 and if it had a leak, the MB1 would have found it. I also replaced the mounts and installed a torque brace. Prior to this procedure, I was leaking like a ****. It can be done and should be. Hope that helps.

I've been using the Gotham oil pan brace on my car since the motor was rebuilt. My oil pan leaked. It was due to the person who installed it. Its not a panacea. You still have to be able to install the oil pan properly using the right materials to eliminate (or maybe delay?) oil pan leakage.

I had it redone by Ihor (Rotary Experiment Seven) a few months ago and its holding up well so far.

There is a "groove" that will be milled into this brace, to better fit the oil pan underside...
It is my understanding the gotham pan lacks this...and I read some mounting holes as well.

Like I said, if you are unfamiliar with Garfinkle's work just do a quick search...this pan brace will be top notch quality.

i don't think anyone is questioning that.

most of us are familiar with Garfinkle's work and reputation.

Sounds great.

Yes, the Gotham pan brace I had had too small of holes for the bolts . . .

I'd be interested in getting one if Garfinkle makes it. Will be pulling the motor when installing a single later this year.

that is being talked about right now...and he thinks he'll be able to do it, with not much (or no) increase in price...since we are close to 20 braces.

i cant believe no one mentioned this, but isnt the brace also an alternative to dowl-pinning the motor as well as providing a better seal for the oil pan?

25 won't fit on the sheet of steel...

if we can fill up 12 spots in a week, we might be able to purchase half a sheet and make a half order.

so, it is up to you to rally some people in your area/people you know...good luck!!!
