Youtube for the discerning gentleman

My personal vote for two of the best FD centric videos out on youtube. I enjoy the deep dive into the guy's personal connection to the car, and the driving portion is far more in-depth than what commonly constitutes "reviews" today. The channel as a whole has evolved since these videos, and is not rotary-centric, but I feel it falls under the "Youtube for discerning gentleman" criteria.

The J's Racing S2000 must have been very fast. I wasn't sure Tsuchiya would be able to beat its time.

Goosebumps throughout, loved how they edited the music and angles. Thoroughly enjoyed this.

The FEED FD has 100 more hp but probably has its suspension setup for a road course where the J's Racing car might end up twitchy.
Also could be these tiny stages are where a non-turbo shines, even though the FEED has good throttle response.
I remember a while back the J's Racing S2000 beat the RE-Amemiya FD in the Touge Challenge final, but they got it back a couple years later.
Another good one from way back was the MCR R34 GT-R vs. another RE-Amemiya FD. The GT-R had like 300hp more but was much heavier and couldn't handle the Gunsai like the FD.

I've always had a soft spot for J's racing and included a few Best Motoring vids below. Whole video is worth a watch but @10:00 min the GT3 takes over. Narrator says it's now time to compare Porsche vs S2000, followed by how 'this is the difference between Japanese and Global sports car.' 'But the S2K still shows great performance.' Bummer the 'Shark' FD isn't actually track worthy, but still very very cool imo. Just crazy how German engineering has retained its' performance edge after all these years. Also crazy how Revolutions' 370-380 ps / 1100kg peripheral ported 20B Rx8 with sequential trans couldn't catch the 320ps / 1100kg S2K. Overall, another great video imo.
Skip to 6:00 for the Y's Produce FD intro and then 8:30 for the action. I'm of the mind to believe there's a strong argument to be made for best sounding 4rotor. And literally no comparison being a true Japanese vehicle through and through. It's just my personal preference.

I agree about the German cars. Although some have lost a bit of their old appeal (I'm talking to you, BMW), Some are still as great as ever, if not more so. That new Cayman GTRS4 is a future legend, and those AMG Black cars are insane!!
Speaking of insane, here's Rod Millen in his AWD FC..

What a cool vid. All these years of seeing Donald on Jay Leno, I'm not sure if I ever thought I'd see him driving (and raving over) a Mazda. Our cars really are beginning to gain the recognition they deserve.
I've always said it, though. To be a collectable car it's gotta be fast, rare and good looking. Check Check and Check.

Not sure if Carwow has been shared or not. I thoroughly enjoy watching Matt and even better when Yanni and others are around. These guys are seriously funny imo. Totally my kind of hang and I personally prefer their 'laid back let's not take this too seriously' car review as opposed to people (usually North American channels) trying to make it seems as if they're describing a fine wine. Ha.

^Not seen that channel, added to my Watch Later, Thanks!
Speaking of compact cars, I've been enjoying the heck out of this -

He took a 1st get Honda Insight, stripped it down, and put a Harbor Freight Predator cement mixer engine in it. It's a very pointless project but you learn a LOT with him building EFI, building the engine, adding a Stupidcharger, etc. Humorous and well produced.

History of Land Speed Records, one car at a time.
I first got sucked in when he covered some enormous, 4wd twin airplane engine MG thing from the 30's, and promptly went back into his back catalogue, and started with the 1st vids that begin at the turn of the century.
been subbed and sucked in ever since.
its fascinating history, and the machines are friggin bonkers

this record stood until 2019, fastest speed on a public road (that they may not have closed?)
fliegenden start = flying start
stehendem start = standing start
399kmh = 247.38, so about the same as the RB FC

Yeah thats nuts. Pretty sure ive seen vids from scarf and goggles, and British Pathe' (another one I highly recommend, historic archives not car specific ) on the Auto Union and Mercedes streamliners. They were crazy high tech and fast but dangerous.

Scarf and Goggles is awesome and Merc is the greatest manufacturer ever to exist (imo). Good stuff guys
Always find it suspiciously odd how jdm videos don't get the attention they deserve. Best rotaries in the world imo. Decent subs throughout, poor audio at times, etc.
ps- Y's produce is so cool imo. Always has that wow factor for me.

Not only is this not RX-7 related, but not car related at all. What it is though, is interesting as hell. I stumbled across one of this guy's videos, then fell down a 3 hour long rabbit hole. He travels the world, but not like most people. Here's one good example. It's definitely worth a watch.
