Tein Flex Z install question

I am in the midst of installing these on the rear. Do you need any bushings, isolators or other parts besides the nuts?

You just need the 3 nuts; the Tein Flex-Z's don't reuse the OEM isolator/bushing & center nut, they just bolt right in.

thanks

are the OEM nuts, locking type?

they seem difficult to screw on the first few threads.

don't want to strip anything

Hmm, I don't recall if the new Tein's came with new mounting nuts or not. IIRC, I just reused my old OEM nuts which went off & on the new Tein's pretty easily - don't recall any difficulty getting them started. So the old nuts should be the correct size. Perhaps your OEM nuts might be corroded, galled or stripped a bit? Try cleaning up the threads with the correct size thread tap, and if that fails get some new nuts for it.

You should be able to hand tight the nuts, if not then something is not right. Looking at your shock picture, they might be stripped, hard to tell.

Hard to tell from your picture, but it looks to me that the stud I circled in your picture above might be stripped? Might want to take a closer look at those before buying new nuts. If the studs are damaged, your options are sending them back for a replacement, or maybe trying to repair the stud threads yourself.

thanks again Pete. That coilover was not installed on the car as of yet. I did have a couple of spare M10 nuts with 1.25 pitch, which I ran up and down the studs on both coilovers.

the threads on the OEM nuts were messed up. I ran a tap through them and cleaned them up, they spin freely now, but are a little sloppy.

I believe many years ago when the previous owner had the lowering springs installed the Professional shop carelessly used an impact to install those nuts.
