Rx7fd RHD to LHD conversion

Hey, I’m converting my rhd FD track car to lhd, and have encountered a problem with wipers in connection with converting. Are there other solutions people use to get a functional wiper system, than original parts from lhd? It is just a track car, but i want the wipers to work correctly, or mono wiper like the dtm cars or something.

Moved this to the relevant section.

Very few people have done a conversion, mainly because it's a huge pain and crazy expensive. You need damn near everything in the interior, wiring harnesses, etc.

That said, the wipers are total mirror images so you will need the whole setup - the motor, the arms, and the rack. They are harder to find than you would think too, you have to find someone parting a car.

There's no other tricks I know of - again, this is something that is rarely undertaken.

Thank you. As I wrote, it is a track car with a rollcage, I dont even have or need oem interior parts. I use a bmw f80m3 steering column with a lhd sterring rack from fd, and a tilton pedalbox. I’m only looking for a ok solution for the wiper system. Solutions like if the wiper engine from an mx5 and wiper joints from fc or something like that. Thank you for answer.

I've thought about using wiper hardware from another vehicle since most of the wiper parts are NLA. May want to get some good pics of a LHD wiper motor and then look at pics of other Mazdas on Ebay and see if something looks close.

Or just post a WTB here in the classifieds, may be able to find the actual parts.

I would like to see pictures of this! I always figured that if you could swap the firewall, everything else would be wiring. I'd like to see how you are doing it.

sorry very late reply, much going on at the moment, and a lot of work. Here is a few pictures of this project. Here are some pictures of the project, it does not look so bad anymore. The rear arches was very damaged, which is why they are cut so high up. The biggest problem with the car now is the wiper mechanism.

Looks like the cut-out and mounting points for the LHD system are there. Hope you can find an LHD system.

I have tried to mirror the mounts to the other side. Alsow cut out the air duct and welded in a new piece. I think oem lhd would fit, but hope to find a solution not that expensive.

I wonder if you can just go with the RHD set-up and remove the right side wiper to go with a centre mount single wiper look. The center wiper does a pretty good swipe of the left side. Youi could add maybe an inch longer wiper blade.
