Rocker panel drain plugs?

Hello members,

I'm looking to buy some replacement drain plugs that line the bottom of the rocker panel. IIRC, there should be about 5 plugs on each side. If anyone knows the part number for this item or where I can purchase replacements I would appreciate the information. Attached is a picture of what I'm referring to. Thanks and happy holidays.

I don't think those were put there by MAZDA. To me those look like the plugs used by aftermarket or dealer-added rust-proofing. I'd get the hole ID and just check with places like GRAINGER or FASTENAL.

I agree, it looks like those are on the outside of the pinch weld? Pretty sure my car doesnt have those. And I dont see them on the parts diagram, every plug is further under the car.

In the 3 FD's I've owned they all had these covers? There condition varied and one or two may have been missing but present nonetheless. I'd like to think the the holes come plug from factory as the case with most vehicles but I may be wrong. Worst case scenario I'll take measurements and find an aftermarket version that will work as the sgt suggested. Was just hoping someone knew exactly what I needed and where to get them. Thanks for the help everyone.

I will check out that part number, thanks j9fd3s.

I found the exact same plugs on junkyard Mazdas from the same era. I can't remember what models, but probably Miata, 626, mx3, 323 etc. Look in the wheel wells and undercarriage.

B001-56-051 appears to be the correct part number. There are six on each side, there is a hidden one under the rock/mud guard piece near the rear wheel.

May I ask what is the reason for plugging them? Shouldn't water drain out of these holes? Unless it's redirecting the water elsewhere...

Generally these holes might have been utilized for draining out paint when the frames were dipped, or for locating tools for assembly, and then sealed after their usefulness was done.

It would be cool if someone with some 3D printer skills could create some type of plug that would mount in these holes that could be threaded. It would create a way to attach feed side skirts without making extra holes with sheet metal screws.

I attached mine to the factory rear side skirt deals. And the front fender bolts. Tape in between. Working out well.
