Hi
I have finally managed to get my hands on a good condition headliner for my sunroof delete.
Only issue with it is that both sides was "folded" or kinked during removal. So the thin paper or whatever material they used to make them have ripped or collapsed.
Have anyone here tried repairing them?
When i pull the colapes area apart, it goes back to the original shape and the vinyl looks perfect. the only thing i cant get 100% from that is the edge, but i can work with that.
My plan so far is to stretch them out and glue in place som 3D printed plastic bands to support the original shape, and then try to saturate the material with some liquid glue to make it hard/stiff agian.
Id suggest some epoxy to make that repair as rigid as possible. A couple strips of fiberglass fabric layered 3x thick will help. You need to keep the panel as straight as possible when the epoxy sets.
I have a panel that i got from japan and the vinyl is gouged so ive been contemplating how i can remove it without damaging the flimsy underside.
