Thanks for pulling the data! Do you know if this is only active (current) state registrations? Would the data include FD's that do have have current up to date license plate stickers for example?

I know of 2 in my area, both showed up at my local C&C last year. One is a VR/tan touring with about 18K miles and the other a very nice black/black R1. Based on the recent MB/tan that sold on BaT I'm guessing the low mileage VR/tan is worth north of 70K these days....

And those numbers, I assume they’d include the JDM models like mine? (Further reducing the pool for LHD ones, if you’re into that)

Out of the 5k left, how many are good condition stock sequential stock body? Can't be more than 5-10%, if social media is any indication.
Mine is still stock sequential and stock body.

Most are stock body, and probably half of those sequential the other half non sequential. The modified cars get more exposure, and those of us on this board are way more prone to mods than most of the population so modified cars are what we are used to seeing.

Thailand has ~300 FDs in total, with a ban on importing used cars. You guys are spoiled. We're at 1 FD per 200,000 people, about 3.5x rarer than the USA. And FDs are by far the most common RX.

Social media is no indication because it's not reality. The majority of the car communities problem right now is people believe the crap they see on social media is real when it's really not. We all know how this stuff works so I don't think I really need to get into that sermon.

The better question is, what percentage of the 50000 left are LHD? 50%? More? Less? I am aware there probably is not any official way to tell, but judging by the FD's I'm around, there is at least 5 RHD to 1 LHD in the Southern NM/ El Paso, TX area. I've actually only seen 2 other LHD FD's in the entire state, with 1 I am aware of that I haven't seen in the Santa Fe, NM area.

I'm guessing that these numbers are generated using the VIN numbers of registered cars to determine year and model. Since JDM FDs have very different VIN number formats they should not be included in these totals.

The only way to know the answer to that question is to have a legitimate registry for these cars. I'm working on that. https://rx7fdregistry.com

Sorry, coming late to this conversation. Is there any chance that I can get the raw data? I'm curious to know the VIN #s and the state/province where these are registered? Would these all be LHD? Knowing the VIN would allow us to decipher RHD vs LHD. It's slow uptake to get folks to register on the site I launched in January https://rx7fdregistry.com. I've got a VIN checker so only LHD vehicles can register. At about 75 registered vehicles so far, one can start to see the trends of vehicle condition, mods etc. Yes, it's a small sample size but it's a start!

The interface that I had didn't have VIN numbers. It was just a hand full of drop downs that you could use as filters. Again, it might be possible to get access to POLK and pull your own info. I have no idea what the licensing would be on it though.
